Never met my grandfather, but he was a tunnel rat during Vietnam multiple Purple Hearts. lot of redacted stuff apparently in his file and he passed away last year. Found all of this out at his funeral. Wish I could figure out more but no clue how

@alexmiller5796 His bless him. Start with his service record from the DoD, maybe grandma has it. Or ask your parents. You as a family member, MIGHT be allowed to request his DD214 (service record) online but probably need his SSN. It won't tell the story like he could but it's a start.

The rifle at 15:30 is a Vetterli-Carcano. The Italians comtracted them before WW1 and they were chambered in 6.5 Carano and fed from the same Mannlicher style clips as the 1891 Caracno.

@anf-2abuffalo603 it's a Vetterli-Carcano. C&Rsenal did a video on it a few years ago. It was originally in a 10mm black powder cartridge, but the barrels were sleeved to 6.5 smokeless loads to reduce the supply chain for rifles and ammunition.

@sijul6483 That was I believe an M38 Carcano, a carbine length rifle chambered in 7.35 Carcano, but overall the same system relatively to the aforementioned Vetterli-Carcano.

Some airsofters actually play in real kit. You'll know the ones by how they try to actually take it seriously as training. Those big milsim events are probably 50% airsoft gear, 50% real gear.

Imi Galil is the standard in South Africa when it comes to military, police & security, it just depends on what variant you want: R4 = Long Barrel R5 = Medium length Barrel R6 = Short Barrel Usually security guards for cash in transit would use the R6, R4 is for police & military, I think the R5 is for special forces.

Just in case you wonder - russian airsofters are also simping for opfor kits (well, opfor for us, blufor for more civilized part of the world I guess). Amount of guys larping in seal team kits is HUGE P.S. Imagine working on factory for 300$ per month and buying freaking crye pants, just to look gucci on the local airsoft field

That was a Vetterli rifle. Specifically the Vetterli-Carcano Italian modernized (for the early 1900s/WW1) version. It's a Carcano magazine fitted to the Vetterli and rechambered to fire 6.5x52mm and uses the same Enbloc clips as the Carcano as well.

I rock an Aliengear Taq-strap swivel drop leg everyday for duty and I love it, the only complaint is sitting in the car for long periods of time, the bottom accessory mount squishes against my thigh and it can get a bit uncomfy, but otherwise feels great

I have a similar leg holster to the guy you called out and it is actually surprisingly comfortable for a leg holster. However I imagine it wouldn't be very conducive to smaller people because the straps don't have loads of adjustability

I have a dropleg that I enjoy, but I will admit that it didn’t come with anything to tie the holster to my leg. My solution was a Velcro elastic strap . I do think the elastic does make it more comfortable than a traditional dropleg tie down mechanism

- Batteries explode in flashlights all the time when batteries of different brands, or types, are used together, etc. Slight differences in charge, rate of discharge, etc, cause the batteries to overload or catch fire. OLight is known for it because they lost a lawsuit after a flashlight exploded in a guys mouth, killing him. OLight's user instructions were found to have inadequate warnings on battery usage. TL:DR - When using multiple batteries, be sure all the batteries are the same exact kind, if not also the from the same package.

I could listen to Admin talking about the Vietnam war all day. There were also many good books written featuring the war, often fiction written by veterans based upon their experiences, in a similar groundbreaking and unique style as the music and films. 🤔
