Medieval Prince Harry would’ve had a much more interesting story. They would’ve called him something like Harry Flamebeard (or Harry of the Frosted Tip by his foes) and after being exiled and marrying a common-born foreigner he would’ve mustered up a bunch of mercenaries and second-born sons and return to start a (probably disastrous) civil war in England against William the Bald for the throne of King Charles the Adulterer. Fortunately now exiled nobles can just vent their frustrations with weed and podcasting.

Ok but now imagine being Harry's ghostwriter and you sit him down and he tells you about his frostbitten todger and Elizabeth Arden cream reminding him of his mother's smell and then having to put that down into a coherent narrative.

the fact that a large portion of this book happens when these people are in their mid thirties and are some of the richest people in the world is so funny to me. like they have no problems theyre just inventing their own!!

I can almost guarantee William has a similar view of Harry. Their fights are very reminiscent (however a lot more shallow, probably because they’re also a lot more privileged) of the fights between my sister and myself. It mostly just speaks to a very traumatic childhood where they were probably pitted against each other as often as they banded together against their family. They don’t have enough trust in each other so everything is a perceived slight. It’s really sad because the real enemy is the system.

Even though there was a lot of cringe in this book the most shocking thing to me was the Africa argument. Two white princes from an imperial family talking about a whole continent with real people in it as if it was a pair of shoes, that really puts into perspective how a “modernized monarchy” will never work, its the same as putting makeup on a pig.

If Harry wrote this book to make himself seem more likeable then he's failed miserably.

As the youngest child let me just say, this book is peak youngest child syndrome. The theme of "Yeah I did that. But my older brothers told me to!" Is basically how I went about life before getting therapy.

About the lipgloss thing. When I was very young I heard from a friend that sharing lipgloss or lip products can sometimes be unhygenic so that makes me think that Megan was trying to be polite and not ruin Kate's product.

The stuff about siblings is so true. My siblings and I were SO cruel to each other at school lmao. We're all really close now though. I think, because Harry's life has been so odd and so far removed from most people's experiences, he can't tell which parts are ordinary things everybody goes through and which are abnormal.

I used my credit of the month to get the audiobook. Oh my God, I was so wrong when I thought I was gonna get a memoir like Jennette McCurdy's "I'm glad my mom died". The more I've learned about them in my adult years, the more I'm astounded that any of them who aren't in line for the throne stayed connected to this bizarre way of living and growing up. As far as I can tell, Princess Anne is the sensible one. (If I remember correctly, she insisted that her children not be given titles.) Forget "The Crown." Give me period piece about Anne's equestrian career, failed kidnapping, and charity work that she seemed to actually genuinely embrace.

I kind of feel bad for him because he clearly has unresolved issues stemming from a troubled childhood-that his family never thought to address - his mother's death. Plus the fact that the royal family was so out of touch that Harry didn't understand that it's normal for siblings to be jerks to each other when they're young.

Honestly I feel sad that Prince Harry would have to resort to writing a "tell-all" story basically stripping himself naked (again) and now stripping the whole royal family naked to put on a show just to make money. I mean he's used to stripping naked but other family members might not. Up until this time, I have always had the biggest respect for Prince Harry, I feel he's a very genuine person, who's courageous and not afraid of being himself and compassionate towards others and is very personable and relatable even though he's a royal person and I was willing to ignore some of the crazy things that he did. I was extremely disappointed about his decision to relinquish his royal duties to live in the La La land with his wife and I always thought it was his wife' that had unduly influenced him. Now I know even though his wife is a piece of work but Prince Harry himself is just ridiculous and so self-indulgent and out-of-touch with reality. He is supposedly seeing a therapist. If this is the best of what he can do after seeing this therapist, he needs to fire his therapist. His therapy is clearly not working. Seriously I have never known and understood the meaning of "spare" in terms of subsequent children. So according to him, any subsequent children that two parents have after the firstborn are all "spares" that in case if the first child dies, then the parents can still have other children there? And what about the third or fourth or youngest children, they can all grow up with self-pity and be bitter about everything and especially their older siblings because they are what the spare of the spare of the spare of the spares? It's ridiculous. He has so much to offer with so much experience including real combat experience and all he can think of to make money is just to write a trashy "tell-all"?

I think it's important to keep in mind that Harry, since birth, has always had stories being old about him. His decision to tell his own story probably included the decision to tell every dirty detail so that the press and his family had NOTHING to share about him anymore. And I also feel like this type of approach when a media figure who would typically not open up about their emotions and be vulnerable, breaks the mold and maybe overshares a little, we should consider that if this were a female who was sharing intimate details of losing their virginity (etc) would would be applauding their bravery.
