Being invited to take a tour of your old house from childhood? What a trip!
While filming an entirely different video, we suddenly had a rare opportunity to revisit the house where Darrell lived from 1982 to 1991.

@Eric & Darrell I was able to view the home I grew up in until age 6, from 2,000 miles away via the internet. The house had been sold/resold, and there were LOTS of pics (from real estate sites) inside & outside the house. It was bizarre, it's the first time I laid eyes on the inside of that house in decades!

5 years ago, I bought my childhood home from the previous owners. There was still a lot of old features as there was in the 80s. The same phone has still hanging on the wall. Why they kept it there all those years is beyond me. But, every single day I have a flood of memories. I’m so glad that you were able to experience this. So happy for you.

Born in '72 and this is so cool to see how we all used to be! Life is so much more complicated now than it ever was then... Being so connected to everything and everyone all the time kinda sucks. I am writing this at midnight where I live because I cannot get back to sleep after some jackass from work called me on my cell phone to look at something on the computer connected via the internet from home... none of that would have happened back then, and I'd be getting a peaceful night sleep. Miss the old ways more than ever lately.

Eric and Darrell I love what you do! My brothers and I had to sell the family house last year after my dad passed away. Thankfully, I got the opportunity to move back in with my dad to take care of him for his final years. We were able to bond and make additional memories in the home. The day that I moved out, I walked the entire house and property and filmed my final walk through. I swear I could hear my mom’s voice yelling “dinner!!” from the kitchen. I could see family members gathered in the living room watching football on thanksgiving. I could visualize my dad working at his tool bench in the basement. Whether big events or small moments, every room had so many memories attached to them. And I took them all in on my final walk through that home. That’s when I realized exactly what you said in the final line of this video “Home isn’t a physical place, home are the memories you keep inside “. Thank you again for the reminder!

I revisited my childhood home 20 years ago. Lived there for 13 years from '75 to '88, left when I was 18. I didn't even recognize the place it had all changed inside and out. Had so many happy memories there. I made a games room in the front room complete with a 5 foot pool table and games consoles and had many friends around. I became an Amiga gamer not long after leaving. Even with that we were still very active and went out a lot. I've tried contacting my old friends but they are all settled down and not really interested in revisiting their past and some of them live in other countries or too far from me. I've hardly changed except I have my own place now and still game a lot. Nice to see friendships like yours still lasting this long and able to share together the memories you have from those times.

The house I grew up in (1970s/80s) was on a street with about 20 homes in total. Probably 15-20 years ago, even though the house was still in good condition, it was demolished, and a new home was built for cognitively disabled adults. I'm happy they have a nice place to live, but it's very sad that I'm unable to see my old home anymore. Every other home on the street is still there. They were probably built in the 1940s-50s era. I will just have to keep the memories.❤

I'm in my 40s and both my parents have long since passed, while my childhood friends have all scattered throughout the country. Some have unfortunately passed as well. Revisiting my childhood home only brought me pain, and wish I would've refrained. Darrell's right, "going home again" is best experienced through happy memories.

I haven't been able to revisit my childhood home aside from doing occasional drive by's. The house I was able to revisit at least virtually was my grandparents home. My grandfather sold it in 1984 when I was 18 and it had been owned by the same person until 2018. My grandparents had it built for them about 1957. I noticed in October of 2018 there was an estate sale there. I wasn't able to go as I was going to be 1500 miles away but my brother, cousin and aunt and uncle all went and my brother took video of walking through the house. It was almost exactly the same 30+ years later right down to the wood stove that my uncle made my grandparents in the 70s still sitting in the living room. A couple months later I saw it was for sale and again my schedule wouldn't allow me the time to go see it in person but I saved every picture that was part of the online listing. At that point the wood stove was gone, sold in the estate sale, but the house was really untouched for all those years. There were so many memories of huge family Thanksgivings and Christmases there that came back seeing those rooms again.

I still live in my childhood home I’ve lived in since I was 4 years old. It will be 20 years I’ve lived there in May. I know I still live at home but I need to save a lot of money to be able to afford to move out. It’s alright though, I wouldn’t have it any other way right now. My first home that I lived in from birth to age 4 is just down the street, I sadly haven’t seen it since and probably won’t since we don’t know the lady currently renting the house very well. Anyway glad you got to see your childhood home again!

I honestly love the fact that the new owners were nice enough to look at your home movies, let alone let you inside to look around. 40 years later, it still looks and feels the same. My grandma, for me, actually owns my childhood home. Every Christmas and every time I go over there i just have overwhelming memories of childhood. I just wish things would stay the same, yknow? Maybe when they move out, were you thinking about moving back in with your friends or something?

It's amazing how you guys were vlogging back then and how the VCR tapes most likely piled up through the years. Still really the only way you can see your childhood homes now is one that it got sold and you can see it on Zillow through pictures being taken by the photographer if has been over the last 12 years or do this go up to the owner now and politely ask them.

Oh man, wasn't expecting this to choke me up - such a sweet video! Loved the edits of the home now and then - especially Darrell playing with the Bassett Hound! Growing up, the home next to ours had a Bassett who I just adored and would always like to play with me. I hadn't thought of that dog in decades...until this video! This channel brings the feels!
