2 жыл бұрынAs a kid, Gregoire Akcelrod’s dad told him that he was such a bad footballer that he should never kick a ball again. But Gregoire wasn’t going to let that stop him from fulfilling his childhood dream.
With the help of a fake website, an embellished CV, and some misleading photos, Gregoire hoaxed his way from being an unfit amateur player to convincing top clubs he was a rising star.
The ruse worked so well that he was only hours away from being signed by a team in the Champions League, when football fans spotted that something was very wrong.
In one night, his lies started to unravel, and his life’s ambitions came tumbling down.
In a series of candid interviews, Fakes, Frauds & Scammers relives some of the most audacious scams and fraudulent stunts of our time from the mouths of the perpetrators themselves. Whether it’s money, fame or simply an addiction to lying, we find out what motivated these tricksters and whether the highs, lows and ramifications were worth it in the end.

@@ustearblower There's no doubt. The other part is that if Greg put in enough effort in the tryout, the manager and front office might see him as a leader on the squad as a backup despite being quite awful as he's charismatic and works hard. You just hope he didn't play too often.

I am bulgarian and i immediately recognized him. As a fan of CSKA Sofia's rivals - Levski Sofia i was non stop laughing and joking about that. The whole bulgarian football community made fun of CSKA back then.

To be fair there are players who are beyond average playing in top teams because of good agents. It's not realistic to think that the best players always play for the best teams, nowadays it's all a matter of how can you sell yourself off

From February 2019 until November 2019 he signed for 5 professional clubs in Moldova, Southafrica, Chile and Denmark without ever playing a single match, escaping from the police in several countries before being arrested in Colombia by a bunch of sex workers.
