I Sold My GL1500 Goldwing! So What Did I Buy to Replace It?

As many of you know, I sold my GL1500 Goldwing and my motorcycle camping trailer a couple of months ago. There has been a TON of speculation on the GoldwingDocs Forum as to what I replaced it with. Today, I let the cat out of the bag, and introduce you to my new ride!

Good luck with your new toy. Hope you've many happy miles with it. I thoroughly enjoy your content on Goldwingdocs so I'm staying, and I understand why you've left bikes too, I'm at a similar juncture with my own wing too. Too many crazy car drivers out there.

Wow, awesome. I have always wanted an airplane, but I have to settle using my motorcycle as my airplane 🤪🤪 the thing I really like about a MC over a boat or airplane is that I just walk into my garage, start it up and go. No pre checks, no trailering to the water. And at 65, finding a bathroom quickly is important 😂😂😂

Same here. I always wanted to fly or at least glide but my poor eyesight prevents that. One advantage of having the motorcycle, I can go riding for at least an hour or ride it to work and then go riding after.

I’ve thought about it!! I just installed tow pac on my Goldwing. Still riding…. Pulling cargo trailer and still have my Aspen classic tent trailer. I’m 68 years old!! Lots my friends quit!! 🤷🏼‍♂️. Now I’m a loner LOL

I have the same year and color of Goldwing that you had, and I'm a licensed aircraft mechanic since 1990. I have tried multiple times to obtain my PPL but I have severe motion sickness and just can't do it. I would love to own a personal aircraft and do my own maintenance, but sometimes life doesn't work that way. I'm considering selling my Goldwing to have money to add horsepower to my Dodge Challenger. Could you share how much (approximately) you sold your wing for?

Sold my plane so I could buy a GoldWing. My wife flew with me (just like a girlfriend) but she could only ride for a few years before arthritis got to her knees. So, the big question is...Does your wife fly? Or do you need to go out and find a girl friend?

I was thinking the same thing. The last time I was in a plane was in a Rutan at a hangar party. It was a blast! The tower got a little upset with the tricks that we were doing, but it can be hard to control yourself in such a little hotrod. So behave yourself and be careful. Enjoy!

Ya know, Scott, I’ve been a pilot since 1991. Last aircraft I flew was a Glasair 3; gentleman aerobatics and 1000 nm range (extra tanks). As I was riding my new-to-me Wing, I considered getting another economical aircraft and looking at a future Long EZ. What a similar life we have! Enjoy the Pusher!

Good to new Vetters windshield/fairing, version 3 or 4 before Honda started adding them stock on the GL1100 Wing. But I don't think he will find one in new condition since they were made in the 1970's. Remember alot of CB750's with them too.

IMO, one of the main reasons for more traffic on your sites. Is because most other Goldwing forums are absolutely terrible. GL1800riders is the worst by far. They will literally change words in your post is they don't like it. You yourself would be shunned just for the informative video you did on Car tires. Censorship at it's finest. Good luck with the new toy. But you will get another Goldwing.

That's actually the reason GoldwingDocs exists. MAAANY years ago, I was posting my tutorials and How-Tos on another popular Goldwing site, and for some reason it annoyed one of the moderators (who were fighting amongst themselves about it). The one moderator kept deleting my posts as well as answers I was writing to people looking for help. After a few months of that nonsense I said "to hell with this" and started my own site where my posts wouldn't get deleted or censored and I could actually help people without squabbling "moderators" with bruised egos getting involved.

Canard in French means duck, which are remarkably fast in the air. I hope Scott, your bladder is in better shape than mine. You are not going to be stopping that thing and nipping behind a tree for a pee.

Yes, the first aircraft of this type (besides the Wright Flyer) in 1906 was a French design which resembled a duck in flight, therefore the name. :)
