The only thing I really like is the pool and outside kitchen with a hot tub. The lake is pointless because most people I know that have water front property, they never use it. The house is way to big for my likes due to maintenance,cleaning,energy bill consumption. My aunt owned a mansion and I only used the kitchen,one bedroom,garage,one bathroom. So right then and there I knew I didn't need a mansion in my life. The yard is questionable. I like having land, but I would rather have it as open land to put a shop on or a garden vs walk ways for a nature walk.

I think the AC system would be a fun project to work out. Surely you don't need 6 units for the entire house - plus, you don't need to replace what's working fine. For the leaking water one, your drain is blocked and it's pretty easy to deal with. They're simpler than they look!
@Hiwinders

Congrats on the new place. I had a salt water pool for years. A few thoughts: - The pool equipment does not need to be covered, it is designed to be outside and in the elements - The spa may not have a leak. It is probably part of the pool…. Since the spa is higher than the pool it will likely drain back into the pool if the valves that control water flow may not have good seals. - I would defiantly shop around for pool people to get the pool back up and running. Good luck!

I know most folks come to your channel for car content, but I'm looking forward to watching this unfold. Put the gym in the 2nd house near the sauna, use that shed for lawn and maybe pool stuff. Invest in tools as you work on things.

Greetings from Finland, the home of the sauna. For the stove, I would definitely change the stones. IF you do not know when those have been changed the last time. At least in Finland sauna stones do not cost much, but those make a huge difference on the experience. Old well used stones have lost their thermal properties and might have started to break down. or release all stored heat too quickly, resulting in harsh "löyly"/the steam coming out from the stove when throwing water on the heated stones. Also when you have removed the stones, clean/rinse the stove from any dust, broken bits from the stones, before laying the new stones. Otherwise a Finnish style sauna (that you seem to have) is very easy to maintain. Just check if the wooden benches are ok, not moldy or anything underneath. If ok, then just enjoy using the sauna and remember to let it dry out properly after each sauna event. Good ventilation keeps sauna healthy.

Freddy, congrats on the next step! A few suggestions: 1) If you are going to convert the 'shed' into a gym you may want to consider a mini-split for heating and cooling. 2) A septic tank company can pump out your bomb shelter if they can get close enough. If you decide to use the space look into sealing the walls and installing a drainage system around the entrance. 3) The hardwood floors are beautiful. If you have areas that need help they can be sanded and color matched. 4) Given the size of the property a good monitored security system with multiple cameras will provide some peace of mind for your family. 5) May want to consider an intercom system or everyone can have their cell phones with them. :^)
@JohnCarter-vo8ux
@JohnCarter-vo8ux Жыл бұрын
Intercoms are pretty much a thing of the past now, they've mostly been replaced by tossing an Echo or Google Nest Mini in the rooms you want to talk between. 'Alexa, drop in on basement' and you tell the kids dinner is ready. :) They're dirt cheap and easy to set up and add to.
@theParticleGod
@theParticleGod Жыл бұрын
if you get the bomb shelter pumped out, you may find it has a sump with a pump in it that has failed. They're usually made to handle quite a bit of water ingress so they can be used as a storm shelter without killing the occupants.

@@JohnCarter-vo8ux Cloud assistants are becoming a thing of the past too..well, not really. But i'd opt for a local home assistant, and i'd prefer an intercom system using the local network. It's not so much 'muh privacy!' which is important, but more so just how silly the notion of having a command to shut off a light in the same room as you are, go through your wireless access point, through your router (or both), through the internet, to a cloud DC, back through the internet, through your gateway/AP and to your light switch..versus just having it happen without crossing your gateway.

The bricks in the tree are the remnants of old tree decay management. Cavities in trees used to be blocked up to try and stop decay advancing in the tree, but in fact the practice either does nothing or can make the decay worsen. It looks like the tree is relatively healthy (from the shots seen) as it has continued to grow around the edges of the cavity, and that's why the bricks are now stuck in there. It would be worth getting arboriculturalist to check the tree to see what condition it is is and if there is any likelihood of it failing in the future.

For the mosquitos, you could get a misting system around the perimeter of your house. I’m from south Texas so I know how it goes. My parents did this with their backyard and what a complete game changer it was. Despite the creek that was behind the house, I never once saw another mosquito when they installed the misting system.

I’d have bought the house for the summer kitchen alone! Such a cool feature. Get rid of the mosquitos by cleaning/treating the pool and spray cedar oil around the perimeter of the yard.

The fact that you quickly received more views in one day for this video than for Car Trek means that you need to continue to show what you do at home. It can help many. Ideas in the field of construction often come just by looking.

Freddy, those look like Cypress floors. If you take them out, besides the fact that you'd be crazy to do it, people will pay big money for them. So don't let anyone "rip" them out. Remove them carefully so they can be sold and you'll make a significant deposit towards new floors. Or, refinish them and enjoy them. Wood floors create a warmer and more welcoming environment than tile or stone does.

That tower is a vhf/uhf antenna. Get hold of your local amateur radio chapter before tearing it down. They will likely either relocate it or pay you to maintain it for emergency radio broadcasting. Nice trails. I've been working on mine, but haven't built a bridge over my creek yet. It's too deep and steep to drive an SxS through, so I gotta build either a bridge or culvert.

Opening safes is quite easy. Depending on the manufacturer you can actually call and obtain the default combination if it has not been changed by the owner or installer. Amsec was a very popular brand of floor and wall safes and due to a factory fire all the combinations before a certain date of manufacture was lost. I have drill template's for most all safes.

My God. 😵😵😵 What an absolutely amazing canvas to start with!! Especially with SO much possibility of content collaboration. Actually, just the rebuilding content attraction to see how well the quality is executed with this sort of extraordinary layout. 5 acre waterfront with easy provision of building a true car enthusiasts home facility, a poolside guesthouse AND a separate raised pool kitchen with a hot tub extension above the pool, and an extended dock run with a full sized out-deck. Imagine what that out-deck could look like with a stylized cover and fully lit. Or even run a gas line out to a simulated fire pit. I would go friggin nuts on that place, lol. From what I could see just from this video, it looks to be quite solid and simply needs a good solid extensive makeover. What a great adventure this could be. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

MOSQUITOS: plant decorative "lemon grass" around the property. its a pretty looking tall grass that has a yellow tint. it does a decent job of repelling flies and mosquitos. i know its a small contribution, just watching and liking the videos, but im glad that, in lump sum, it adds up to you being able to do this for your family. you put a lot of great content out there for us to enjoy, so you should be able to reap the benefits of that work. and so should your fam. its a really cool house, and i cant wait to see all the fun things getting done to it

You are correct about your outside a/c units, at a minimum 2’ clear around each. Plus above, if all possible. Plan on cleaning the coils by washing and getting any and all sticks out of the inside. Check for Freon leaks. Clean the internal parts of the interior units and do a gas/ electric lighter check if you have central heating with your units. Check size(Tons of each unit), in south Texas on the coast where summers are 100 degrees with 90 to 100% Humidity everyday of the summer. Making sure you have ceiling fans in every room to help move your cool air around and hot air out. Filters get changed out per you directions (once a month up to 2 months.) All that I just said is what I have to do not that you have to but please check with your HAVC rep. In your area.
