I Swapped My NA-TT VG to a NEW Drift Z!

With so much to get done in so little time, today we decided to take on the challenge of a single day engine/chassis swap.
We now can safely drive on the street legally, to tune and shake down the car as needed.
Next video, we should have it finished up in its previous state :)

For those that remove their trans cross member: There is an arrow on the cross member, it points to the front for manual and to the rear for automatic. (Thanks Caden for showing me.)

@08:56, i used to alway wrap a plastic bag around that bell end, then electrical, or painters tape it around so its tight and will catch any leaking fluid. now. i had taken an old blow up driveshaft. and cut upp the input shaft end. and it is now a tool. every time i pull a transmission. i just use that input shaft stub and insert into the back of trans. it seals perfectly snice it is meant to work witht he seal oem. its hte little things that make working on these cars soooo much easier! still working on sourching a blow transmission so i can chop off input shaft. auto and 5 speed. for a steel clutch alighnment tool. one day!

Good thing you mention that because I just remembered I have a yolk from a junkyard that they included🔥 I bought a plug awhile back but found out it's good for storing it vs keeping it in the trans haha

@14:08, no hate here, i know braided lines have stainless steal outter sheath, but internal sheaths are stillrubberized, and if too close to that exhaust manifold. it will get super heated and cause the inside hose of that braided line to melt and start weeping over time. its best to loosen, repostiion and tighten those ends so that the braided line has as large of an air gap as possible form coming in contact with the hot side of the turbo housing./ down pipes. no hate. just looking out me amego

Good looks! I actually zip tie it up in combination with my overly long 1 pc clutch line. The first time I put them on and didn't notice I put a black mark on the corner where it made contact😆

@08:11 imagine if you had a nice smooth concrete just outside the barn, 1.5 car lengths deep and the full widht of teh barn, could even L wrap it around side of barn under neath exhaust/ extra parts and give nice level, dry ground space for the extra z's. i know not cheap. and i know no rush.. but... its good to dream of the potential. would be sick!!

Not a bad idea! Some new gravel would go a long way haha I've thought about asphalt around the entrance/rear but I have to consider the future when I can potentially build a new one vs a 100+ year old barn🤔

love the videos, i have a uk TT manual just followed your timing video and it’s all timed up. problem is it has 2x cylinders misfiring back right top neighbour cyclinders neither are getting spark. both have working plugs/ coils and are getting 12v and neg but no signal! any pointers MUCH appreciated thank you 🙏🏼

Have you checked into your ptu wiring/subharness? The older style plugs (square) are prone to corrosion due to bad weather seal design. I made a video a month or 2 back about the ptu subharness delete/bypass and how you can inspect to see if yours has the forbidden mint corrosion.

@@NedacSnosrap thank you mine is the earlier version, the PTU is from a known running car so also thinking it’s the wiring. do the coil pack looms ever cause trouble?

Yo do you wrap the chain around just the plenum when you pull the engine out ?

On a plenum in not worried about "scratching" yes. Take front 2 coilpacks out on both banks and loop it through. If I have a nicer plenum, I have longer bolts for the egr/prvr brackets on the side and then use rags between the chains and plenum edges. Both balance well pulling engine itself
