Jami, this really touched my heart! You have such a way with all the babies but especially the feathered babies. Kate is so relaxed and happy with you gently stroking her and just listening to your soothing voice, she falls asleep. You had me under a spell too😌☺️! Tbh, I was not a feather fan until I started watching you and your genuine love for them. It was infectious, so I'm happy to say you've converted me! I absolutely love watching you love them. I also have to say, your video the other day when you took your beautiful Dixie to the open pasture and revealed an absolutely terrible chapter in your life made me cry with you. I was in a similar relationship 35 years ago, but I had 3 little babies and no skills, so I was stuck and endured the torture and pain for 5 years and finally left with two 5 year olds and a 6 year old. But I made it, and my babies are all grown up, and I have 7 beautiful grandchildren! Like you, I was stronger than I thought! Love you, Jami! Keep up the great things you're doing. You're an angel here on earth!🤗💜

When you build the chicken coop...you will have to keep them all in there for a few weeks and not let them out. That will give them time to learn that is home and then they will most likely lay and roost there Jami. Make certain to keep them in for weeks!

I was going to suggest Jami contact Mary Carl for advice but you are spot on RIGHT! IF not kept up for awhile the girls won't use the new coop!

I have raised many chickens and babies's it is always best to have them in a coop for several weeks possible months before letting them out then when you do they will return you have a wonderful heart Jamie but you got to get a little bit tougher with it

I didn’t know turkeys could fly. I too am wondering how Marsha is going to get down. Maybe call the fire department? 😂 Kate is such a sweetie. I hope she gets to raise more babies. Exciting times ahead for the chicken coup.

They do fly but not far. In wild they roost in trees at night

Turkeys fly just takes them forever to get up they have really rebounded where I live problem is they fly across the highway and take way too long to get up and go through windshields! LOL but seriously you gotta pay attention or you'll have a bird in your lap! LOL

I’d love to see a proper chicken coop! That would be great to see them all together at night and their eggs would be much easier to find not to mention safer, and warmer in Winter too. Yes, someone mentioned locking them in for for several weeks. That’s how Cog Hill does it successfully.

I heard Jason on Cog Hill Farm say you have to lock the chickens in for a week or two. This way they learn the coop is their home.

Kate has such beautiful colouring. What a sweet, clucky mom, dutifully on-the-lay, doing what chickens do. Great news that you’re getting some nesting boxes too. Will be much safer for mom and chicks when they hatch in the protection of a coop, away from predators albeit I think you have a lot of animal guards (kitty, Annie, Carl, Trudy) to keep the predators at bay.

Jami, you just explained perfectly why some people don't fully watch some of Lester's videos; he can be loud and dramatic. I usually watch videos to get away from the noise and drama in life. Your and PawPaw's videos tend to be less dramatic, even when the animals are creating chaos.💗

Aww how sweet of you putting some eggs under Kate bless so she hatch cos she broody that's so adorable 😍 I'm with you on the babies front ☺ but when it comes to animals & their babies it's a different matter.. I hope it works for beautiful Kate. Kate is young maybe she's not over the broody stage like goldie yet. I do hope they use the nesting boxes eventually when you get them & place them up. They didn't bother with them before when you had them. So fingers crossed this time. Was so adorable watching Kate fall asleep 😴 you have z very soothing voice Jami. 😍💖

So glad you are going to try a coop again. I always worry one of your babies is going to get hurt on the hay bails. MC left her chickens in the new coop for 3 weeks so her chickens would know where to come back to roost at night. Your chickens might still prefer the rafters so it might take awhile longer. Kate is a good Momma & she gets first pick. You can tell she trusts you because she fell asleep from your gentle touch. 🐓🥚🐣🐥🐓🥚🐣🐥🐓🥚🐣🐥

Jami, Kate and Goldie are so beautiful. 💖 I have a close friend who is in the process of adopting a little girl. She has had her since she was 4 days old and is now 18 months. She has a 15 year old son but, always wanted another child. My friend just turned 52!!! She now feels fulfilled.

Turkeys get on a lower branch or fence and then fly up to the next level. Have watched wild turkeys do this in a dead tree. Love the baby chicks,can't wait to see what kind you have next.

Jami having a coop will be so nice for baby chicks, will help to keep them safe from the new baen cats. Have you looked into chicken tractors, another good way to let your chickens "roam" but still keep them safe.

If u build a coop then you will have to keep all the chickens that u want to go into it in there for at least 2 weeks. I do hope for their safety they love it and have no issues. You are a great Feathered mom
