What would happen if a beginner was to train neck for 100 days?
PRODUCTS REFERENCED
I started neck training with a cheap harness from Amazon, and if you are a student/ someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on equipment I would suggest the same.
However if you are committed to neck training for the long run and have the money I would definitely consider the neck flex (used by Jeff Nippard, Alphadestiny and the UFC). After upgrading I have to say it is much more sturdy, comfortable and allows you to train lateral flexion which I couldn't really do before.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀
- Neck training is underrated.
- Training everyday is overkill and not optimal.
- Do not copy me, follow Jeff Nippard, Alpha Destiny and the Bioneer.
- Cross reference all info you receive.
- Read atomic habits if you are looking to strengthen habits.
- If untrained you can make noticeable neck progress in just 100 day.
I also think its very important to point out the 'before' photo had awful lighting, hence why I tried to recreate it in the final before and after photo, the truth is even though 1.25 inches is significant growth in only 100 days, in bad lighting it isn't as noticeable.
Secondly, while an interesting experiment and something I wanted to try out of pure curiosity (gonna say it again) I do not recommend training neck everyday, as mentioned in the video only 3-4 neck days a week were done with a higher intensity, however since I have moved to 3 times a week and progress has been much steadier.
I strongly recommend prioritization of an effective warmup and higher rep sets as neck strains are not fun at all. Moreover I recommend filming yourself on your first few sets as this will allow you to spot hyperextension (as I did)/ allow you to identify and correct poor form.

Josh, I'm weight training since 4 years now and started neck training about few months after that. So I am training neck approximately for 3.5 years. My neck was few centimeters shy of 15 inches and now it is 18.2 inches. I have been to 3 gyms till now which had many advanced lifters. I have never once seen anyone but me training neck with weights. All I see is simple neck rotations. Whenever I would train neck, I got laughed at and got weird stares but I never cared. Well, now I have a horse neck. Haha

Thought this was gonna be a basic video but then I saw that it was made by you. Thank you for keeping it real and giving advice that should be more normalized (assessing your level, don't do an exercise for it's aesthetic reason, cross reference, etc.). Too much dangerous advice is spread around just so people can flex how fucking chad they are. So many put up a fake facade that honestly would lead to more body insecurity or obsession. People should just be completely honest about the progress and gains and no Josh you don't look idiotic. You look like a human being that people can actually relate too.

Unfortunately neck training has become a bit of a meme, but there can be some benefits if it’s done properly & for the right reasons. You cited training advice from some of the best in the biz, but I think you would have achieved better results training with at least half the frequency, giving your muscles a chance to recover & rebuild bigger & stronger between training sessions. While neck training isn’t something I ever focus on or generally recommend, you showed there are some potential real benefits from doing it, & I’m glad you achieved some very tangible results. 💪

@@jotr.9786 In all fairness, you can absolutely achieve very noticeable increases in neck strength & size through following a well designed overall training program that doesn’t include any neck specific training, which is more in line with the school of thought I believe in. Focused neck training like what Josh did usually has a more specific purpose for being done, but it’s often done improperly.....thus all the ‘gym fail’ content based around neck training.

Great video and agree with your comment at end as neck muscles should be no diff than any other muscle so 3x a week max should be done. Never paid attention to my neck but will review now! May try book you suggested and recommend to my clients if it's a good one, so thanks for that!

i get your situation with the "train this muscle everyday" video, cause its good for views, but from a practical standpoint, training a muscle every single day will never give near as much gains as leaving even one day of rest between, and training close to failure, so for the viewers, keep in mind that the muscle grows the most at rest!

@@Nebol I don't think this is the greatest presentation of neck training. May I respectfully suggest to you that your fear is borne of ignorance in the same way that a non-lifter might look at someone doing deadlifts and think "there's no way this could be good for me"? Meaning that it is an exercise that definitely poses risks if done poorly, or with a view to ego lifting, but can be beneficial if done safely and methodically.

Sure it helps for strenght and mobility. Not sure about longevity though. Many wrestlers got neck/back surgeries. Probably you have to do it without wrestling till old age to know for sure. Looks like very unnatural. Feels ok, but ive done it only for a year, and my neck is not super healthy

Great job. I'd be happy with your starting size, as I'm only at 14.5" and been this way most of my adulthood (I'm currently 42). If it really is that quick to grow, maybe I'll have to start adding a short neck session a couple of times a week.
@leoxanxe3420

It is really not that quick to grow, most of the guys that said this is because they are in volume and what is increasing is his bodyfat percentage and not their necks.
@orangebandit3897
@orangebandit3897 2 жыл бұрын
@@leoxanxe3420 I mean doesn’t the body fat make the neck stand up stronger. Otherwise if in a car accident or if you’re doing something physically demanding then a bigger neck may be better. I see the neck as an attractive attribute to a guy. It’s difficult for me though to achieve what the standards of neck sizes are with what I have.
