As stated in the video you would need it from the store to be able to play it. I think one of the coolest possibilities for tech like this is to take the kind of armature that connects to the back, put one under each foot, and add some kind of motor or hydraulics to stop the foot from moving when it touches an object, like the ground. Force feedback for your feet, essentially. It would be expensive, take up lots of room, and you would need to be suspended off the ground, but it could be a lot better than any treadmill could be.

I just want the Omni one instead of the katwalk because it seems like a significantly better design, but the way they keep screaming their "dedicated ecosystem"; don't get me wrong, having an available headset with integrated compatibility with the extremely niece apparatus and an ecosystem designed specifically for it is beneficial, but 99% of people going to buy this already have 1-2 (or more) headsets that they want to use it with. And not everyone is willing to drop $2.6k (almost $3k after shipping) for 1/3 of that to be for a headset (with its own dedicated ecosystem that costs $14/month to play those incredibly small player base games online (the Omni one costs 3 times more than the katwalk, VR treadmills are pretty rare in VR, VR itself is quite uncommon; and most people even thinking about a buy like this are looking to use it with a headset they already have)) they're probably not going to use. I'm not trying to say it needs to drop the headset or the ecosystem (because of details like the integration), but offer a "slimmed down" version that doesn't include the headset at a cheaper price.

Imu trackers for foot movement? I know one method used is basically an optical mouse sensor in the shoes, be bigger and probably work better if you have the whole shoe to work with instead of a shoe pad. But I really hope they can be used as proper foot trackers

Do they have a treadmill like this for the quest 2 /Quest 3? I haven't had any luck finding anything on Amazon so I thought you might know. Something I've been curious about for a while. Honestly I figured this rig was going to be about 6 grand American where it comes with the VR equipment not just the treadmill itself.
@jaybratt
@jaybratt 10 күн бұрын
@@peterparker6584 actually there's one for the quest that goes for $900 sometimes. It's not super simple plug and play though, it requires some tinkering. The Kat C2+ I believe is the model I have.

9:14 To be fair $2k is nothing for something like this and in the PCVR space it's not to bad considering a Pimax crystal isw half the cost and overall in XR you giot the likes of the vision pro which costs $1k more.

Dump the Peco, add Quest support and charge 2 grand. SOLD. No quest support most likely equals no buy for most VR users. This is DoA without quest support. BTW I am a PC VR user and a Quest user. Just saying. The quest dominates the market currently. Without quest support your potential customer base is cut by 75%

Fundamentally, they just can't break the proper ground. To me it's still slipping around on a plastic disc with shoes coated with lube. Until it's an actual tactile moving belt, it just doesn't hold water for the price.

If they wanna do monthly subs they'd be better off damn near giving them away and then telling people it's a monthly repayment system. Once you fully pay it off, paywall certain features that some people will continue to pay for. It's still an anti-consumer model but it'd move a larger volume of product.
@Beldan4

At best I'm an investor, at worst I am someone with AD(H)D, OCD, Autism, Depression, who lives on disability in subsidized housing and has sold off everything he owns in the desprate hope that this device will in some way help motivate me out of the "couch potato gamer" lifestyle. So many people dissing this due to a sub without even giving a *logical* argument as to why it's bad annoys me. This isn't a company with the fiances to shake nations, its an indy in the red. If they can get an attractive revenue stream going things will change when said companies start eyeing it.
