What I do when I'm at the end of my shampoo bar, I take a travel shampoo bottle I've kept and reuse for the following purpose. I stick it in there with some water and after about 24 hrs it's dissolved and that way you get one last use out of it. Plus you get to use absolutely all of your shampoo bar. I also do this with my solid soap for that last little piece. I will keep them in a Lush tin and then when I have enough little pieces from various soaps to give me one or two uses, I do the same dissolving thing. Thought I'd share in case someone wanted to try this too :)

I also thought I'd never use a shampoo bar until I tried the Lavender Shampoo bar from Waste Free products (dot) com. Lathers like a dream and all natural. I like your idea of saving the last little piece and dissolving it. My Grandma (who grew up during the depression) would cut up her last slivers of bar soap and put them in her washing machine on laundry day.

I can! But if it takes me a lil bit to make that video (I have quite the list of vids right now), I'd say my cold-weapons of choice (hehe 😉) are all lifestyle related. I'm not sure this helps but I'll send them over just incase. They are... 1. Plant based diet : I know this sounds SUPER annoying (and honestly cult-y) to anyone who's not plant based, but since adopting a vegan lifestyle and diet, I very very very rarely get sick... maybe 3 times in the last 6 years. (I've witnessed several friends who have also made this lifestyle transition say the same. Some of them (Tay included) used to be sick ALL the time, and I can physically see the difference in them myself!) 2. Multi vitamin every day when others are starting to get sick around me! 3. Lots of water & greens (and foods with vitamin C if possible before I catch anything as well) 4. Move my body : I know this goes against what people say but I always feel like after I move my body/sweat, it shakes my cold faster for some reason 🤷Not sure why! 5. Good sleep (and rest throughout the day) 6. If needed: Chaga mushrooms And then I usually wait it out 🙈 I've also heard about DIY cough drops but haven't made them yet! Maybe in a winter "Will it Work?!" video!!!! I'm down! Hope that helps at all!!!! Sending ya lots of cough-and-cold fighting energies hehe x

Use tea leaves - you can buy reusable tea bags of you prefer using bags to the metal strainers (I do, I'm just waiting for it to be available in my country without having to be wasteful in shipping from Amazon). Try move away from cough drops maybe? My nurse brain says coughing is a good thing to try and bring up stuff from your lungs rather than it sitting there. But if you can't do without it, even a cough syrup rather than cough drops - it's in larger, maybe there's one in a glass bottle? and just use is at night so you get good rest and although it's a pain, let yourself cough during the day. Use hankies not tissues. Use vapour rub as a steamer so you get like heaps of boogers out at once. if you do it in the morning and an hour before you go to bed that should hopefully cut down on postnasal drip too. Ask your pharmacy if they reuse their medication bottles if it's the same medication - use liquid paracetamol (Tylenol) and reuse the bottle, measure it out with something you reuse. Or ask to reuse the pill bottle if it comes in that.

dancingpinaygirl buy a tea diffuser or reusable tea bags! and buy your tea in bulk, such as from a tea store (eg. david’s tea) or bulk barn! best teas for colds are peppermint and green tea. if you eat honey, put honey in your tea, or purchase a ginger honey and use that as replacement for cough drops (just take a spoonful when needed, i learnt this trick from a voice coach). if you own a diffuser use that often and put peppermint in it! during winter and flu season i use my diffuser every night with peppermint in it and it makes such a difference in my immunity. also steam!! when you have a hot cup of tea just cover your head with a towel and hold it up to your face until it cools off a bit, helps so much. and classic: keep your hands away from your face and wash them before eating or prepping food. i hope some of this was helpful, i usually only get sick 1-2x a year and this is how i do it! :-)

I think that is AMAZING!!! that they aren't putting in random vitamins. Because 1 there are a lot the body doesn't even absorb so they literally just being peed out. 2 if a person needs to take an iron supplements or something specific and they should probably be taking a dedicated supplement for that and not just have it as part of a multi vitamin. People need to stop being wasteful and taking vitamins willy-nilly and only take what is recommended for them personally.

Hi there! Not sure if this has been said yet but i work for L'Occitane and as of august 2018 they have partnered up with teracycle! So you can bring in not just locci empties but any beauty/cosmetic empties! The employees have to empty the bin and mail it out to the NJ warehouse. So you don't have to do any of the work! I can't speak for all stores but for the roughly 6 i have worked at we all happily ship the empties!!! Also they're doing major efforts in becoming more environmentally friendly!!

Marissa Greene so terracycle is a company that basically tries to make non recyclable things recyclable. They partner with complaines such as the body shop, grainer and febreeze to try and up cycle/ recycle the plastic packaging. There are drop off points where you can rake what you want to recycle or you buy a box and what you put in it to recycle and you send it to the terracycle company

And if there are people who are only here to be rude, let em walk and roll off your shoulder! (Not to be confused with rock and roll off your shoulder because that sounds like more fun! 🤪). If you can get bulk french green clay (my co-op has it) it works well for a mild exfoliant. And you can make a mask out of it. But I like to mix it with a bit of water and scrub it on my face when I shower once a week or so, and then just wash it off in the shower which is super easy. And it smells like nice neutral clay scent.

Yes! I have so much of it that I need to use up too! I used to use bentonite clay on my face in college (LOVED mixing it with acv!) but I somehow developed a sensitivity or something to it over time and it really dries out my skin (and would burn my face). 🙈🙈🙈Now stay away from clay in my skincare all together, because it seems that my skin likes lots and lots of hydration (and I might be emotionally scarred from the bentonite hahaha). Any zero/low waste perfume recommendations? The best I’ve found so far is By Rosie Jane since they have a take back program, but since they recycle not reuse do the shipping emissions cancel out the good done by recycling? Maybe there’s a better option out there? Thanks ❤️❤️

I normally get vitamins in glass bottles, but idk what to do about the plastic lid either. Also they always come with like a thin plastic cover over the lid and top of the bottle which is super annoying. 😔

This was super practical and helpful for so many items, saving this video for reference! I was also recently stumped by vitamins, and I bet you we use the same after hearing you describe it lol mykind organics? Used to use their gummies but switched to their one a day pill since it was more cost effective and in a glass bottle!

Yes! That's the one I'm using right now! The once a day one for women I think. I'm definitely still looking into whether I'd ever publicly recommend it or not because I recently learned that Garden of Life was bought and now owned by Nestlé 😢

Sedona Christina well that’s depressing. I wonder, is it ever the thought in the zero waste community to still support smaller, good companies that are bought by less sustainable, big companies with the idea that they can influence the larger brand? I remember thinking through this when I first went cruelty free years ago w/beauty products. I’m still trying to understand the difference between this and avoiding greenwashing I think?

those gummies actually look really intriguing to me. I have been looking for a multi with iodine and selenium, which was a surprising hassle in the UK. I dont need 1000% of vitamin C each day, so this specific formula sounds super interesting.

Hi there. You need to pair the cleanser you made with double cleansing. You need to use some oils to cleanse your face and then use a tissue or a cloth to remove the excess oil and wash with the cleanser, the flour has properties of absorbing the oils. So you will be left with clean but hydrated clean skin. Give it a try just once or twice maybe. Amazing video 🤗

Could you please do a video on the Cons of natural sunscreens? They are proven to not protect your skin at all or just patches of it. I am concerned how many people who want to be more sustainable buy them with really given a thought if it works or not.

The liquid shampoo probably doesn’t have any surfactants (SLS etc) in it that’s why it doesn’t lather. Instead of buying zero waste/low waste stuff I’ve been buying second hand beauty products where needed because there are websites like Vinted where people want to sell their unused products, even a little bit used or they didn’t want but received as a gift so it would be nice if you’d check it out. It’s like swapping n I always ask the sellers to give me second hand packaging

Btw if you ever need a more cleansing shampoo and a shampoo bar made from oils doesn’t work, lush shampoo bars have SLS in them so they clean more like a traditional liquid shampoo
