As an Aussie, can confirm the strong zero problem. I usually gauge how many drinks I can handle based off the "x standard drinks" tag that's required by law here. So going to Japan I had no idea and just chugged it whilst waiting for a train, thinking it was like a beer. Went to stand up when the train arrived and saw things get a bit wonky. Then did the calculation and realised I just chugged like 3-4 beers.

Had the same problem with Soju in Asia, no standard drink number. My friend bought 4 bottles of blueberry Soju, stuff tasted like Grape bubblegum. We guzzled down 2 each and were SO effing drunk in broad daylight in a muslim country 🤣😅

As a response to what Chris said about cider in Japan being like lemonade - in Korea, cider is lemon lime soda (like Sprite or 7up). As such, I find it hard to explain to my Korean students what cider means in Canada. The idea of cider being an alcoholic drink made from apples (and not a lemon-lime soft drink) is wild to them.

I think the English spelling being a kids non-alcoholic drink may have something to do with the Post WWII USA Occupation. In the USA, Cider is often used for apple juice that is unfiltered with preservatives to inhibit fermentation. What is labeled as Apple Juice in USA is often clarified to remove any pulp and wild yeast, also heat pasteurized to ensure wild yeast are killed.

@@KebaRPG Yeah, 'regular' apple cider in the US is nonalchoholic, but doesn't always have preservatives. There's usually 'all organic' apple cider around that doesn't have any preservatives and if you forget about in the back of the fridge it will ferment.

It gets even better as it goes on longer in the video you can see Chris slowly getting drunk, from the haze in his eyes, the redness in his eyes, the slightly hooded eyes, the slightly flushed face, the slowly slurring his words, wobbling and spilling the drinks everywhere meanwhile Connor looks completely fine, no haze in his eyes, no flush of his face, moves around perfectly and even has the energy and control to worry and panic about Chris and his table getting spilled on XD

This has to be my one favorite video of all time. Excellent duo for the task. Although I never tried to taste every alcoholic drinks in Japan we tried 2 new drinks everyday then we shared so like 8 every single day from the vending machine and my best souvenir was that corn hot soup. Totally awful... would do it again!
