All said and done, I am VERY happy with the way this build turned out. The only thing I would have changed if anything, would have of course been a better spec'd RTX 3000 graphics card. The EVGA 3060 XC was the closest thing to MSRP I could find from a seller I felt I could trust, and I honestly was just tired of waiting to put this build together. If an RTX 3080 or similar presents itself at some time for MSRP or close to it, you best believe I will be scooping it up and selling my RTX 3060.

Thanks Bunny! I love this rig, and honesty right now with GPU prices falling and stock rising, you should be able to get a slightly better GPU. Although I have to admit, the 3060 has actually exceeded my expectations so far.

Funny thing, I've been generally looking for more videos about the 5900x speaking on the experience because that's what I'll be upgrading to hopefully within a couple weeks once it reaches my country. I actually bought the items already and they have to be shipped to my country "Trinidad and Tobago " hence the delay .... So in the spirit of binge watching others who have used it....I am happy I came across your video. It really makes me smile as we have a very similar build in play. I'll eventually have a 5900x with 64 gigs of Ram and a 3060 ti. I will also be primarily be using it for video editing. 😁 Keep up the good work brother. This is a really expensive endeavor for me especially because I am not wealthy and the US dollar is kinda pricey....I've been saving for more than a year to finally finish my build..I have to pay taxes for the purchase in the US plus taxes for importing the items..plus shipping costs....it's insane lol but I have no plans on upgrading anything more for probably 3-4 years. here is what my build will look like once finished DLM21 Mesh MATX PC Case MSI MAG B550M Mortar WiFi Gaming Motherboard Currently on R5 3600 upgrading to R9 5900x Currently using be quiet! I decided to try my hand at LEDs back in 2016(ish) and soldered a cheap Chinese strip to a Molex collector. As I was putting up blinds in my office I turned around and saw grey smoke… Thankfully it wasn’t catastrophic, but I did manage to melt both the strip and the molex connector and fill my entire case with the smell of melted plastic that took weeks to fully expel lol.

would this build still be good in 2024 for productivity work, photoshop, 3d modeling, and most importantly gaming at 1080p 😁? currently looking at prices for almost exactly this cpu and gpu combo, so pretty much the same build, and it's very reasonable. as of now I don't think it's worth upgrading to am5 based build (at least with prices in my country) but I do have some good choices for gpus like rx6600, rx5800xt etc.

Ok… 9900k cooled by a Cryorig H5 Ultimate on a MSI Gaming Pro Carbon board. 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Corsair AX 1000 PSU Zotac 1070 (was planning on upgrading last year and we all know what happened then…) Some SATA SSDs and some M.2 SSDs totaling about 5TB of storage. All inside a Fractal Designs Define S. It games super well at 1080p on any game I throw at it period. But I need a better gpu to go to 4K. Im glad you got a 30-series card to go with your build without paying scalper prices. The system looks bomb man.

Your rig sounds amazing! There’s nothing wrong with 1080P gaming in 2022 TBH. Once you get sucked into a story or game mechanics, you’ll stop pixel peeping and just enjoy it for what it is… But that will never stop our want for 4K, will it? 😂 I’m not trying to decide what to do with my 2700X GTX 1060 build. Part of me wants to sell it and part of me doesn’t want to give it up. Why so big on the PSU btw? Was it a great sale or were you just preparing for the future?

@@qwazyd0gg I got the PSU from a guy I used to work with for $100. Could not pass up that deal. And I miss typed. It’s an AX 1200i. But for $100, I could not say no. If you have the old system still running and all you could put some spinning disks in there pretty cheaply and have yourself a really decent home server for pretty much no extra cost. Would make archiving footage off of your new PC super easy and you could use it for Plex videos and whatnot.

I have the same build in a hyte y40 and play halo infinite multiplayer with ultra settings all the time and the whole system barely goes above idle when playing, and with all noctuas the thing is near silent.

They’re all compatible, so no worries there. I really like the Gaming X cards and the Strix cards for their looks and performance.

In 1080 it would be a great streaming rig. 1440p would still be exceptionally capable but may tax the card a bit harder if you’re using the GPU for encoding and streaming. If you use an external capture card than 1440p would be fine.

You can do a pci e based card like an elgato that will take the encoding stress away from the GPU. For most games though the built in capture on the GPU works great with nvidia

Yes, it takes a lot of the stress off the GPU. It is more cpu heavy; however, you’d have multiple cores to handle the extra workload

As long as you’re not throwing a ton of graphics in your timeline or trying to run multiple instances of CC (Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, Audition, etc). CC is fairly ram demanding

I’d throw another 2x8 for 32gb total. I never like mixing dimm sizes as it can complicate timings and channel support.

so i bought a zotac 3060 on prime day and paid $400 for it . I wanted to know what gpu is better than the 3060 so i can use the pc for some editing and light 1440p gaming

Honestly the 3060 or 3060 ti are great options for light 1440p gaming, even at high refresh rates. I use my 3060 for all of my editing tasks as well and it performs exceptionally

I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity. Found a very lightly used 3080 from an older gentleman that upgraded to a 4090. Paid $720 with OEM packaging including pci and port covers, then flipped my 3060 for $500 Canadian. All in upgrade cost was $220

3060 still slaps though. It ran Fortnite at comp low settings with epic draw distance in 4K around 120fps, which was my target. 3080 does the same in medium-high settings. Difference while sitting 6-7 feet away isn’t super noticeable. Honestly just got the replacement because I told myself I deserved a 3080 😅

Those parts look great! The Asus Tuf lineup is fantastic for price to performance since they strip away all the useless stuff like RGB that serves no functional return in performance. 5600X is great for gaming; however, if you're looking to stream or anything in addition to gaming, I would move up to the 5800x is your budget allows it (Less than $100 more). Ram looks great. I would take a look into a cheaper SSD. Nothing wrong with the Samsung lineup; however, a lot of the time you can get similar performance for a lot less to invest in another key component like your processor. The S70 is a great option and it is also Gen 4 to take advantage of the extra bandwidth available on the B550 and Ryzen 5000 combo. GPU is a good choice if you can find one. If stock isn't terrible where you live and you can find a 3060ti, I would again try grabbing one. A lot of games this year will start there as an RTX based minimum system requirement build. PSU and Cooler are good too!
