I mean damn! All I did was mention a quirky little fun fact in the comment section of a popular video on the Parlogram Auctions channel. In return, I received a torrent of anger and absurdity. My favorite comment: "I don't accept that reality". Check out the video for the story and keep calm, try to carry on.

Fucking brilliant. One of your funniest videos. And yeah, sitars on the US Help soundtrack before Rubber Soul is a stone cold fact. I remember noticing that back in the '80s when I bought the record with that same purple label and purple inner sleeve. Yeah, technically those aren't Beatles tracks but your statement is still 100% fact.

Did you know Ringo first suggested playing a sitar instead of drums on Love Me Do but it was rejected by George Martin. That's the reason Andy White was chosen instead of Ringo which forced Ringo to change his original stage name from Ringo Sitar to Starr. Many believe George played sitar on later recordings but in fact they are actually by Ringo. First use of a sitar in rock music however was the 1st take of Heartbreak Hotel. Floyd Cramer played it but Elvis accidentally shot it so Floyd had to play the piano instead. Floyd was so pissed off he parted company with Elvis shortly after. Unfortunately the sitar track has been supposedly lost but I do believe Paul McCartney owns the recording as Paul bascially owns everything and everybody.

Talking about The Beatles, I remember back in the early 90's when I owned a 74 Volkswagen Beetle and anytime I passed by another one we would always wave to each other. There was always this comradery even though we were complete strangers. It was just cool knowing that other people enjoyed the same things that I enjoyed. WTF is wrong with people these days?

I’m English, I’ve been obsessed by The Beatles since 1970 and this video is so fantastic that, man, you just won yourself a new subscriber. Having checked my own “reality” I conclude the following: 1) the US version of Help! was released before Rubber Soul, 2) both albums are Beatles albums, 3) both albums contain sitar’s, 4) the sitar’s on Help! sound like a night in an Indian restaurant, 5) the sitar on Rubber Soul sounds artistic, 6) your original comment on Parlogram auctions was 100% correct, 7) we really need to extradite Prince Andrew to the US, 8) Benny Hill was a genius, 9) the US Help! is wonderfully quirky, 10) thanks for giving us the Magical Mystery Tour album

Another cool FACT: The Kinks "See My Friends" featured the first example of Indian-style drone in rock , 4 months before Norwegian Wood. It also blends actual Indian style and raga better than Norwegian Wood. Also The Kinks 60's LP's are awesome and very underrated compared to the Beatles.

It's truly nuts you got that kind of response for a totally innocuous (and true) comment. I was 13 years old when that movie came out and I bought the album soon after I saw it , still have it. I like to listen to the whole thing , instrumentals and all , as it brings back the time and what it was like when it was happening. It was more of a movie souvenir here at the time , with some great new Beatles tunes. One more funny little fact : George Harrison became interested in playing sitar while filming "Help" after hearing some of the music from I believe the restaurant scene / sequence.

Very true Robert. In fact, George Harrison himself said that he became interested in Indian music while working on the Help film where there were scenes with Indian musicians playing the Sitar. I always thought that the US Help album was unique in that it was the first to have Indian music on it long before Love You Too, The Inner Light and Within You Without You. I was glad you pointed this out too and you definitely didn't deserve the silly reactions you got on Parlogram Auctions page.

Fun fact (and nothing to get hung about), The Yardbirds recorded the first version of Heart Full Of Soul with a sitar riff in April 1965 (half way through the 'Help' sessions Feb - June '65). This version was considered poor and as Jeff Beck said, the hired sitar player couldn't keep to the 4/4 time required. So they re-recorded the track with Beck's guitar sounding like a sitar and that was the big hit. The canned sitar version of Heart Full Of Soul" is on KZfaq so you can judge for yourself.

Hi Robert. I enjoyed the video. I used to think I was a hardcore Beatles fan until I discovered the Internet and went to a few Beatles conventions. I discovered that there are some people out there whose only reason to live is The Beatles. (I took a Beatles trip to England many years ago and one fan removed 2 bricks from a walkway to take back to America because a Beatle may have stepped on them. Crazy!!!) I've found out the hard way that if one dares to say anything even remotely negative about The Beatles or anything that goes against what is accepted as "common knowledge", they will suffer a backlash. That's why I rarely add a comment to any of The Beatles discussions in the FB groups that I belong to. In fact, I've often thought about dropping out of these groups because the attitudes of some of the members are ruining the whole Beatles thing for me. I'm wondering if the KISS Army is like that too? Anyway, to get back to your video, your comment is 100% correct regarding the U.S. "Help!" album. Keep the videos coming!

Here's a quirky Beatles fact - Mark Chapmans voice is on an album that was in the British charts. EMF (who had a hit single with 'Unbelievable') used a sample of his voice where he quotes the first line of John Lennons Watching The Wheels on their album Schubert Dip. Yoko Ono objected and the sample was removed from later copies of the album.

Hi Robert, i am a huge Beatles (and a huge fan of their solo projects) but seriously mate, most Beatles fans are just so pathetic in Beatle-ology, they are pompus, pretentious, arrogant and more often than not ignorant of other people's views and opinions of anything Beatles related, its like theyre a protected species. in fact, on my previous channel (before it was hacked and deleted) i ranked the Beatles studio albums and did not have "abbey road" or "sgt peppers" as my #1 album, the abuse i copped for that decision was incredible even though i gave my reasons as to why i ranked the albums the way i did anyway, good on you for your comments revealing a little known fact about The Fab Four

First Beatles album with sitars on it? Of course it was on the US Beatles Help! Totally correct Robert. That is so right, that it being open to a silly debate is extremely ridiculous and absurd. You could almost hear Graham Chapman's The Colonel saying to them "Stop that! It's silly!" But then incels, and losers, and self professed music fanatics are that way, they love useless deadlocked non arguments that they fantasize they had "won" when the truth spits them in the eye they get mad as a box of frogs, and is better to avoid interacting with their foolish behaviour. They do not enjoy their miserable lives and want everybody to suffer for it too. I have found the worst of these species in Pink Floyd fanatics, they are boring beyond belief and also lack a sense of humour (so unlike the band), and have all kinds of mythologies about true meaning of songs and secret messages from their albums that even Charles Mason's disciples should be green with envy.

You're wrong! The narrator played sitar BEFORE he found the clothes and AFTER the Beatles Story. Duh!

My husband wrote a book on the music of The Beatles that was published in 1984…”The Music of The Beatles” (imagine that!). He had explained to me even before 1984 how George’s interest was piqued when he first viewed a sitar on the set of “Help!” And was intrigued…which led him to use one on “Norwegian Wood”.

People who generate these defensive remarks are a minority of your viewers. They love to pick arguements. You'll never please everyone 100 percent. PS -- The working title of the movie Help was originally called Eight Arms to Hold You.

Is this kerfuffle more about air-headed Beatle fans or the gross negativity of social media in general?

I think it's both. I don't think the "your mom's a whore" comment would have been made if it was in person. People seem to think they can talk any old way they want to strangers on the internet.

The way you take the records out with your fingers and touch them upsets me. If you do that to my records I will refer to the profession of your mother.

You're dealing with deeply held tenets of religious belief when you deviate from received ideas about The Beatles. I caught hell for saying the cover of Revolver is a bit crap, and Voorman wasn't even Lennon's first choice.

Yeah, but I was just stating an actual fact. The response of "I don't accept that reality" really said it all. Lol
