I worked for a podiatrist when I was in college and saw a patient with calloused that make these seem minor. Her feet were totally calloused with 1-2 inch thick callouses all over both feet. The dr said they were much worse when he started working with her. It broke my heart... No normal skin was visible.

Fun fact, groomers use dremmels to file dog's nails down and smooth them out. My sister's a bather at PetSmart and she just got her own dremmel for Christmas lol. It's fascinating to see a wood working tool used for nails but it's way crazier to think that a doctor keeps it for calluses. That gives validation to my eternal battle with them.

I saw my podiatrist to do this before the calluses built up too much. He recommended using cream with a certain percentage of urea plus plastic bags overnight and it really softens them up. If you let them get too dry then you have those cracks and fissures, and it can be painful to walk because they keep cracking. You can keep these at bay by using a foot file - don't take too much off - very very carefully, plus nightly foot cream. Now my feet are great.

@aliasindadip
@aliasindadip 2 жыл бұрын
@@Natureking113 well I hope this helps if any of this applies to you. Find a foot cream with urea, it will help soften your feet and makes shaving them yourself less painful. Carpe has a foot lotion that prevents your feet from sweating, I have severe sweating in my feet. Turmeric is good for inflammation as an alternative to Advil and aleve, to give your body a break from otc pills if you take those for pain. After going to see the podiatrist, it’s very important that you try to walk as normal as possible without stressing your feet. This will keep the pressure you apply to your feet the adjust as back to normal as possible. Moleskin is helpful for adding comfort, but it’s very sticky so look up ways to remove them easily. Adding magnesium flakes in your foot soaks, it’s the ingredient in epsom salt that your feet benefits from, so your getting it in a more pure form. The magnesium may sting a little at first, it shouldn’t last long or be too intense. If it’s too much sting, use less or stop using it.

He needs a low speed rotary tool. Even the dremel lite. The regular ones are too fast at the lowest settings. My feet got like that for my whole life. Until a few years ago. It wasn’t quite that bad, but it’s recognizable. Big fissures that killed and I’d walk on the balls of my feet. I Stopped walking bare foot in the house. Amope electric foot grinder and a low speed dremel couple times a month. All good. No more fissures that kill. Feet are smooth. Mine is all eczema exacerbated as well. But feet look normal since then.

Welcome to the American healthcare system. I know people who won't take an ambulance to the hospital unless they're unconscious because they can't afford the $3,000 bill. For most people, unless it's a matter of life and death, they find other ways of dealing with it. Something like this would be considered elective or even cosmetic, and some insurance plans might not cover it. Which means you'd have to pay for all of this out of pocket. I certainly couldn't afford to see a doctor for something like this if I was dealing with it too.

Does he ever numb the feet before working on them? Seems like it would make it a lot easier on the patients.

A dremel tool that sprays water would surely cool the surface while debriding. I'm wondering if there's a reason why you didn't use this. Some DPM's use it and some don't. The heat would be hard to handle without the jet of water being sprayed on it. Great job though. I thoroughly enjoy your work and also your total engagement with clients. Nice to see.

His feet are probably the biggest feet Dr. Brad has treated, so of course the calluses are bigger.
