@@wildwaymonee8o8 it be the loudest ones gurl😂😂 for me the only reason I wear weaves is bc I shaved my hair off recently so it can regrow bc it was severely damaged from relaxers when I was younger so I stopped wearing it out as much bc it was uneven and dry and my scalp was scabbed and bleeding so I just stuck to protective styles but since my hair is too short for braids and faux locks and all that I now just stick to wigs

From what I remember it was an ad for children's pajamas and ever single (white) child had messy, unkempt hair. But the one little black girl who had her hair in a loose bun and her edges not laid was torn apart by some member of the natural hair community. Like they had absolutely no problem with the white kids hair, but the black girls unstyled hair was just "such an awful representation of black hair". Like black women are never allowed to not have super styled hair and god forbid a literal child who is about to go to bed not have perfectly laid edges

I think this is a really shitty take on what Blackness is and what the natural hair movement is. Blackness as a racial concept is ruling in the history of white supremacy and so it is tethered to the existence of descendants of slaves throughout the Western Hemisphere, many of whom are not purely racially "100% African". Throughout my life I have had multiple interactions with people from the Caribbean and Africa who have told me that they are "not black" and that they are *insert name of their home country* so even they themselves are tethering Blackness to white supremacy and its history in the United States of America. only more recently have you started to see mass numbers of Black people from the Caribbean and Africa self-identifying as "Black". I'm only 29 and I remember growing up around African kids who simply did not identify as being "Black". That alone dismantles your argument. The same with natural hair. This was a movement started by Black American women, many of whom do not have 4C texture hair. We can definitely talk about texturism and how all hair textures need to be embraced but what's not going to happen is you are not going to create a new standard of beauty that is rooted in elitist beliefs about racial purity... We've already dealt with that with white supremacy

They dragged you because you read them for filth. By dragging you, they exposed their own internal hatred for real 4c hair, and projected that on to you. I have 4c hair like yours and one Natural hair influencer in these social media streets with the "wavy 4c hair" told me that my hair isn't 4c, it is dry after I enquired about her "wavy 4c hair." I was appalled because if it was, it would break and lack lustre, but it doesn't. She went on how 4c hair is different, there is porosity and yada yada. The porosity has nothing to do with the texture which is what the argument was about. You did a slide where you called light skinned women who write in colorism. I feel that these 3c -4a influencers are doing the same thing when it comes to natural hair. A South African hair influencer who has been in the natural hair game for a long time also called them out on how they still cater to the Eurocentric gaze because they hardly sell the kink and coil. I mean, it's amazing that you can silk press your natural hair and create waves or any other manipulation, but the truth is in the long-term, it does damage your hair and thins it. She posted herself wearing an elegant gown with her kinky afro and wrote on why she believes kink can be elegant and how natural hair influencers lie about the time and methods it took to grow their hair. She was right because how can you grow 4c hair to back length in 18 months without protective styles and your hair was not even reaching your neck? This is why I started freeforming. With freeforming, there are no rushed expectations, there is no manual for rapid hair growth, but you know your hair is growing. I stopped chasing the huge afro look because watching these people made me feel more insecure than I thought and self-conscious. You are so beautiful and smart and I'm happy with your content. It sucks because 4c hair is rarely included in the “celebration” of natural hair. I always feel good when people compliment my hair because that’s a rarity. They say “nappy” like it’s a bad thing. I love my hair tho. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Then again, f*ck them.

"If your page is a natural hair page & you put a picture of me, with my hair & it gets so much hate -that literally proves that your page isn't for people who have natural hair. Your page is for people who have acceptable black hair textures that society wants to see." This is SO real, thank you for calling it out. The natural hair 'community' is so damn toxic. I am european and I agree lol There really are no places to see all types of coily hair presented in it's natural state without a ton of products, styling etc and channels like these have really taught me a lot about coily hair, especially 4c hair and it's always interesting to learn about others. I also think that hair in its natural state in the overall curly community isn't really represented as hair influencers always do a ton of prep before taking just one photo. I have wavy hair that is a mix of all 2's and it's like people make it seem like I damaged my hair (I use no dye, no heat) and that's why my texture isn't even through my whole hair. I mostly wear it loose with no styling and I think all hair is the most beautiful in that way. Nobody has the right judge the hair of anybody else as it's completely fine to not have stylized hair 24/7, especially for a normal person just going through their day. Sorry for such a long reply, but I felt the need to share 😅

Now that’s funny because when I used to wear an Afro back in the 70,s we never identified our hair by numbers and alphabets. So when stopped putting the creamy crack in my hair; I started watching you tube videos and discovered this bullshit. Like Mother Earth said now all Aboriginal/Original Indigenous American black women hair can only be natural via letters & numbers. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤔

Same. Being isolated for "talking white" always made me feel like I didn't fit anywhere. @@princessk2822 my experience is basically parallel to yours , coupled with colorism issues (I’m lighter skinned & Biracial). A lot of not “being black enough” to be accepted by other black women who somehow were “black enough” ( whether that be because of skin color or differences in the way we talked , dressed , or identified with mainstream cultures ). Whenever another black woman is friendly to me , sisterly to me, and wants to include me , it moves me so much . We need to make sure that we’re nurturing each other as black women, not looking for ways to tear each other down 💕

I’m not black, but I feel like I have a regular level of common sense to agree and think for myself exactly what is being said in this video. So call me out if I’m wrong, but why the heck would a stylist especially say you have “bad hair” if it can’t turn into this white hairstyle. If you don’t have naturally straight hair, you don’t need to HAVE straight to be considered “good”. It just sounds so dumb and forcing the same white standards without directly saying those words.
