I love this movie. It's not been my experience however that religions accept people the way they are. Nothing further from the truth. They have strict and often archaic rules, and if you don't fit into that framework, or at least appear to, you are ostracized or much worse. I wish it was that way. It should be about love and coming together and helping each other, and being thankfully for being alive, however we got here.

U are 100 percent wrong. The ONLY thing religions agree on, is that THEY are the right religion, and all the others are wrong. Hence - since time began - an endless series of religious wars. Today, we have the Protestants & Caltholics in Ireland. The Jews versus Muslims. The Shi-ite Muslims versus Sunni Muslims. The partition of Cyprus between the Greek Orthodox & Turkish Muslims. War in Sri Lanka. War between the Sikhs, Hindus, & Muslms in India in 1947. And so on and on and on endlessly. Religions are poison, and currupt and destroy everything they touch - especially humanity. A fancy choir singing a nice song cann't change any of what I've just said.

I've never been a particularly religious or spiritual person but I have loved this movie for 30 years, since I saw it as a boy of 11 or 12. And every scene involving the choir, particularly Salve Regina and this one, are among my favorite movie singing sequences. And I'm moved almost to the point of crying every time I watch.

I still adore this movie. When they first start singing Ave Maria, and finish the "traditional" version, and start on the up tempo version, that's my fav moment in the movie.

To be honest, I always get goosebumps at Sister Mary Robert's first solo. I know it's not the actress's real voice, but I don't care - it's beautiful and amazing in-universe, and that's all that matters to me. 😊

You know the real miracle of Sister Act is that a small choir of about 12 could project so hard across such a massive space with absolutely no sound system. 😂

@@ModArtist Yes, movie magic is one thing, they don't even need to pull out the wireless mics, what we're hearing was recorded in a studio. But in reality, if a group of older women was singing in a vaulted ceiling church, with nothing to amplify their sound, they wouldn't reach past the 12th pew, let alone out into the neighborhood. I doubt an older church that is trying to raise money for a new roof has money for a wireless sound system.

If you are referring to Wendy Makkena (the soloist), she was just lip-synching and doesn't really sing. Someone else recorded her singing voice and it was dubbed in.
