I cut plastic car-wash barrels in half, yielding two large "buckets" drill holes and make rope handles. Cut a piece of old garden hose and slide over the rope before tying off, makes a nice handle. All of the slash goes into the barrels, then off to the fire pit. You can use the carwash "buckets" to store numerous slash bundles. -Two methods for tightening up the twine bundles: 1. Make a tourniquet out of a small stick, twist the twine a few turns and "lock" the tourniquet stick into the bundle or into the twine to keep it from unwinding. 2. Use a wedge shaped slash piece, after tying, stick the wedge shaped piece in the center of the bundle, and tap it home with a mallet, to tighten the bundle.

Two twine strings with a tail. Then take the tail over to the other string and tie it off. Makes a handle to carry the bundle. I make firewood bundles this way. Good luck.

I move my slash bins (made of old pallets screwed together) close to the boiler and stuff all that material in when starting, in the shoulder seasons, or when I just stoke it up a bit to get the water temp up before I give it the big overnight wood. I use a couple sets of crossed 2x4s to make a pair of raised V shaped stands, toss smaller brush and sticks onto them, and bundle them similarly with twine so I can burn them off in the boiler. It's not a significant fuel source, but it gets rid of them pretty well.

You can always throw it in your wood boiler. Remember all wood burns. No it won't last for 12 hrs. but that gets rid of it. And the rip roaring fire will help burn the crap out of the pipe you had trouble with.

I save all the good burnable slash and put it in 275 gal IBC plastic tubs with the top cut off, no bark no dirt, big and small I sell it all. I then scoop it into bags and sell it as Fire Starter. I sell them for $5 a bag and also give away one free bag of fire starter with 4 bundle bags or a $ 20 or $30 box. Do I sell a bunch of them? No ...Do I sell them ? Yes people do buy them. It's using something that was otherwise trash as a marketing tool. People love free stuff, especially when they're buying something just to burn it.

hi there back in the late 80s when i was doing bundles i also used bailing twine . i made a open cradle and tied it in 2 spots , i left the twine long then tied another round stick in the top for a handle ,remember this was when bundled firewood was a new thing and the was no plastic wrap , About the only thing was plastic strapping and binders ., i think you have a smart/good plan and should put it out on your stand , make a spot for it , what do you have to loose ,just time , good show john ps i still have the cradle some where in the back ,

I have a similar dilemma in that I produce a lot more boiler block type material than I can use myself. Some sells, but not nearly enough. It's a hard pill to swallow, but I saw a video by Allen Family Firewood that said quit picking up the change when the dollars are right here. It comes to a point where perhaps dumping it is the best option. 🔥

To possibly help with the process and to avoid having to tip the bundler over, create a false bottom inside the bundler so that the slash pieces stick out about 8", then tie with the twine. Never know until you try. The pieces would already be tied together if you did have to tip it over. Hope to see you tomorrow night.

Maybe you can use a piece of wire. Something like the guys that set up the rebar use they even have a cheap tool to spin tight the wire. Than when you clean the ashes you can remove the wire. You can make smaller bundles maybe the equivalent of a standard log to burn.
