I Wrote A Song to Say Goodbye to my Dog

On January 22, 2024 we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Bailey. She was the sweetest angel. I’ve never met a dog as sweet, kind, and emotionally attentive as her. Anytime I’d begin to feel stress or anxiety or tears come on, she would be right there with her paw on my leg before I could even begin to breakdown. And through the good things, she’d always howl, wag her tail, and run around as excited as if they were happening to her. She was always such a sweet reminder of how God loves us.
As a way to process my emotions, I thought I'd try and write / produce a song for Bailey inspired by our last few days together. Writing music has always been a way for me to express those powerful emotions that flood my heart during the difficult times. I'll take you behind the scenes for the whole process of producing and recording a song from the ground up. Everything from guitar layers/doubles, writing key parts, bass parts, programming, drums... you know, the whole thing.
Thank you for taking the journey with me. Bailey was such a huge part of the KZfaq channel. She was always the best part of making videos. This song goes out to anyone who has lost their dog. Sending you love-

Bailey, Thank you for being the best dog in the whole world! You were my best friend, my baby, my comforter, my sunshine, and so much more. I’ve never met a dog as sweet, kind, and emotionally attentive as you. Anytime I’d begin to feel stress or anxiety or tears come on, you would be right there with your paw on my leg before I could even begin to breakdown. And through the good things, you’d always howl, wag your tail, and run around as excited as if they were happening to you. You were always such a sweet reminder of how God loves us. I don’t know what I’ll miss the most about you Bails, because it was all a joy. Maybe it’ll be our daily walks with your mama, working on music with you, making KZfaq videos with you, the way you wag when I come home, cuddling with you, how you’d always pop in my room to check on me, doing laps around the house whenever USC scores a touchdown… or maybe even the fact that you’d get up with me at 6am and we’d always have those couple hours together in the morning before your mama would wake up. I always looked forward to giving you good morning kisses and cuddles. And seeing you smiling, curled up in your bed. We really did everything together. Heck, you even walked your mama down the aisle at our wedding. You’ve been there for us through it all. There’s so much more I thought we’d get to do, but I’m so grateful for the time we shared. Nine years was too short, but no amount of time would be enough with a dog as special, kind, and loving as you. I love you so so much and miss you so so much. Until we meet again, know that I’m thinking about you, I love you, and I feel so incredibly blessed by the way you loved me and welcomed me into your pack. Like I’d sing to you everyday, you are a special gift from God. Love you little baba ❤❤❤

Beautiful dog and beautiful song. I used to keep my mom's dog and had to put her down a few years back. It was a heartbreaking decision but it was the right thing to do for the dog. She had a tumor that had affected multiple organs. You did the right thing. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Beautiful song and tribute to your sweet Bailey. Love the slide guitar. Oh the finger picking is beautiful. You are so talented! I am still amazed at how you can hear and put all the parts together. I’m sure she is loving her song in Heaven, telling all her friends that you are her daddy. What a blessing to have such a wonderful relationship with her. Bro, you got me crying while doing the dishes on a Friday morning…. My wife and I had to put our dog down that we’ve had for 17 years together last year. It was really hard! Love this tribute to Bailey!

I'm so sorry for your loss man. My childhood dog, Kinako, lived to be 17 too!! That's quite a long life for a dog. It doesn't make the loss any easier, but I'm sure you gave your baby the very best life, and now they're getting to live it up in Heaven- Thank you!

Even though I am old, I have only just started my journey into pet ownership (dogs) like 3 years ago. I have to say, I have never met (nor do I think I will ever meet) a more pure love and kindness than the ones coming from dogs. They are the best “people” I know. (I apologize - my English is fading. I hope I made sense) I am very sorry for your loss.

Dude while I was watching this my little Pomeranian, her name is Dixie she was sleeping on my chest. I just cuddled her in tears watching this 😭 dude I'm so sorry for the loss of Bailey.
