For anyone curious of how to beat Saisyu, there's a way to Time out Saisyu with anyone. You do have to get the first hit, but afterward just spam down 1 from mid screen distance from Saisyu, he will keep trying to whiff punish your down 1 for the duration and lose the match. This works for any character with a fast enough D1 and medium to small hit box. It even works on Level 8. For Rugal, you can trade with any charged projectile with instant start up, making Heidern (ironically) perfect for soloing him. You are looking for moves with big hurtboxes and decent recovery so he won't think to jump and keep trying to block even when he isn't in hit range. Don't be afraid to charge up on knockdowns for extra chip damage at full power. You should be able to beat him rather easily using Heidern or Mai as your anchors. Ralf is also a good pick for soloing them both but you'll have to play really good neutral and use super when he whiffs Genocide Cutter.

Looking back at this knowing that I was one far C away from winning is making me even more sad LOL This was so much fun!

That Omega Rugal win pose is still one of the most badass things in all of fighting game history, to date.

I remember the key for me beating this was using the big fireballs. Eiji’s big crescent, ryo/takuma/Robert the haoshokoken etc… because they’d beat out any of the ‘normal’ fireballs anyone throws. Just use the light versions to keep yourself a bit more safe

The guy didnt win but he was close. Still, that was done only because of cheese strat he already knew, which kinda proves a point about the early SNK boss ai's.

The old SNK bosses are no joke, never underestimate them. This is NOT Street Fighter 6, boys! But I love the original Neo Geo KOF series, much more than any "new" title (altrough KOF 13 is a nice and beautyful looking game as well). Old school gaming rules 💪🏼

Getting the platinum trophy in the Orochi Saga took me longer than I wanted because you have to 1CC KOF 94 and 95. You actually have to do it twice in 94 for two separate trophies.

I'm surprised no one charged to max, it makes things easier. Iirc, for Saishu, standing jab from just outside sweep range. He'll usually try to fireball you and you can anticipate jump in for a big combo. For Rugal, one strategy is to use Mai or Athena, charge to max while A+B dodging and if you get the first hit for a life lead, then walk back to the corner, jump of the wall as high as possible and use the light Phoenix arrow or Mai's air dive to get to the other side of the screen. Rugal will try to follow you. Rinse and repeat until time out. 16:04 16:04 16:04

I remember as a teen beating Saisyu with Mai's crouching elbow....never beat Rugal...got kicked out of the arcade for swearing.

I don't know if it's unique to the Saturn version, but I remember the secret cheese being to go straight to the corner with Kensou and holding back to stand HK through both of them.

Heh, I’m no fighting game player but I once beat KoF 99’s Krizalid by the same exact strat of chipping him and than stalling till timer ran out. Win is a win. Makes the ending extra funny, as you win what supposed to be a fight to the death on a rule technicality :)

Nice! I grew up with KoF 95! I think of all my attempts as a kid/teenager, I can count how many times I beat Omega Rugal on only one had.

Scrawt had some good strats, he was quite close. I do the same with Mai for Saisyu, but for Rugal I just walk back all the time and that kind of messes his AI a bit and he always tries to come at you with a grab, and you can hit him with a fast normal when you see him get close. I've seen people also use spot dodge with Kyo then do the dodge attack, which can go into upkick infinite. But seems to be distance specific and I had a hard time getting that to work when I 1CC'd this.

The lesson I've learned is that 1995 arcade scrub me was better than modern world class players. (It really was just playing over and over until you found patterns that worked, which these guys obviously weren't given the time to do.)

The banter, gameplay, and editing kept me entertained.

Instead of punching Rugal, you grab him by tapping "back and forward" the whole time. The CPU reads your input, so tapping " " confuses it, and Rugal walks right onto you.

I played this a lot ang I can only count how many times I played it back then. Saisyu's hop punch is overhead that is why it is hard to block.

I was raised playing KOF 95. I know sooo many tricks to beat the bosses that in the end, i found out the normal matchs way more difficult than the bosses.

This brings me great joy seeing their suffering. I remember my first-time reaching Omega Rugal and being pissed that I couldn't beat him with 3 friggen characters.

Saisyu is reading all of your inputs and reacts them 0 frame. Only way to defeat him is tricking him to doing dp motion but not press punch button or letting him swipe so he makes taunt

Pick all the broken characters: Heidern, Billy Kane and Iroi. Iori can easily beat Saishu. All you have to do is his first two weak rekkas and cancel into weak uppercut. This simple combo does 50%, but I can't remember against bosses. KOF95 is weird in that weak uppercuts on grounded opponents are more powerful in that it will knock down. Heidern is there to turtle. Spam with projectiles to bait them in when they jump with a Moon Slasher. Billy Kane is beyond broken. When his health meter is under 25% spam his super. In this mode his super does 100% damage.

Heidern beats him easy. Sweep from a distance. Saisyu will attempt to special move over it, you block it and sweep again and it will hit him. For Rugal, he cant do anything vs. Choi's SDM at low health. Back him up and keep doing the fire breath super.

It's incredible that out of so many people only one knows how to beat Rugal, he was so close to beating him.

In My teenage years I only could defeat Rugal with Art of Fighting team and Fatal Fury Team in Arcade without continúes.

We know the title is exaggerated, but it would be great if you set up more of these live event challenges someday and manage to get true top class players. So far we have seen very few, which is understandable after all.

when i was a kid, i remembered players beating saisyu and rugal at level 8. Either KOF players forgot this game completely or none of them were a regular kof player.

All these are new comers. Only old school players can beat this stage easily. 95 bosses are piece of cake even on the highest level.

You should do that with parsec aswell mate,a little tip if you guys didn't saw my gameplay,everytime the rival fully charged his super,they get more damage and i think it also works when you´re like in desperation mode,you know,the classic flashing red and yellow lifebar and you use that as a unlimited super,but try not to now letting them refill the super,if they do,be ready to get big damage. There´s a strategy for them,but i won´t tell you,if you see my gameplay you will know,also from other players aswell of course im a noob not a professional.

My friends n I played 95, 96,in highschool at a local arcade. We beat the bosses all the time

Kof 95 was my game, my brother and best friend would go to the arcade across our high school and spend hours playing this game, and we would beat it every day and then go play some air hockey .

Saisyu is harder to beat than Rugal. Rugal has so many patterns to be defeated with a variety of characters.

Lol I was playing this again recently, it brought back old memories of how much I hated fighting him.

man, i just remember young me in those old arcades making every credit count. we had to discover every and any cheese possible to beat a game with a single credit. those 2 bosses are pretty "cheesable". and at level 4, very easy to "young me".

I just tried this challenge myself just to see if I could beat it and after a couple of tries I beat both Saisyu and Omega Rugal with just Chang and Choi (LV 4). Didn't even need to use the 3rd character. Oh well, would have been nice to make Justin 100 bucks lighter...

this is a challenge i know i can clear. the best way (for me) is team japan with grappler as the anchor. beni is my best 2nd and kyo is a throw away. use kyo to burn down as much as you can and taking advantage of the ridiculous grab range. beni can almost always clear kusanagi no problem and get rugal almost dead. and then grappler to finish taking advantage of how stupid grabs are in this game. took me awhile to realize that rushdowns and grapple were dummy broken. but again, this was my key to success. im sure there are easier strats then mine.

My cousin who is a pro at this game once teached me that Saisyu AI can be easily cheesed by crouch punch and his AI will use projectile creating an opening for the player to jump in to chain a combo As for Rugal: Pray RNG he spam Reppunken and Kaiser Wave since if he spam grab and genocide cutter there's no opening for the player

That AI is Smug and must be saying "Don't jump"
