I am tempted to get another robotic vacuum after finding this old clip, but they have got a lot more expensive since I bought the Roomba in the video which cost about £200 then.

I've never found any robotic vacuum to be creepy, they are fun to watch until the novelty wears off. It is nice to leave one in a room with a dirty carpet, go and do something else and return to a freshly vacuumed carpet or floor.

I have been window shopping robot vacs today. I will probably go for another Roomba to start with, but only a basic 600 model. I my also try out a few of the really budget models just for fun.

Believe me, the best choice for the carpet at the time is the 600's

I actually know the difference. I think it autocorrected. My eyes are bad and I can't always see what I am trying (probably because I lose my glasses all the time). I am actually pretty good at writing although British English has some significant differences. I prefer the British version but writing articles in British English only gets the article flagged for bad grammar. How are you getting along with your Kirbys? The blue is a looker.

I am still using my Diamond Edition, but the Tradition needs a new brush roll so I haven't been using it.

Those two doggies are sadly long gone now, much like the Roomba.

This video is several years old and dogs die unfortunately. They were my Mum's dogs.

I have never owned a robotic vacuum for much more than a year, so I don't know what the battery life would be, but it depends on how often it is used. You can stop it by lifting it up, pressing the button in the middle or pressing the dock button so it returns to the charging base. The capacity of robotic vacuums is often small and they need to be emptied after each use.

I highly respect you for what you do and appreciate the work you put in for our benefit..I still prefer to push and pull a good vacuum cleaner.

The brushes do need cleaning a lot, especially with pets, but there are some models that uses rubber rotating blades that remove hair without getting clogged up.

interesting, learn something new every day! I'll have to keep a look out for a unit with the blades,probably would be better on my floors anyway. I see them often used for sale because they need a once over and maybe batteries replaced. if I find one with the blades or able to be fitted with the blades I'll pick it up and give it a try. I certainly don't want to pay retail and the "no name special blow out discount" ones here I see for really cheap seem extremely cheesy.

the newer 700 and 900 series use rubber blades :)

Every robotic vacuum I've owned has always left the carpets looking clean and freshly vacuumed, but the brushes need frequent cleaning to remove pet hair. You can get Roombas that do away with brushes and use rubber "extractors" that don't need as much maintenance, but they are more expensive.

I think you press one of the buttons for a few seconds to put it into demo mode. It doesn’t work with all models.

Only 1st generation 500 series models do it. You’ll know if you roomba can do it if it says “press and hold for demo” underneath the dock button. They did away with the demo with newer 500 series models such as the 531 and 551.

Well, when I owned several robotic vacuums I was happy with the results of all of them. They all semed to cover the entire area, the carpet looked freshly vacuumed and there was always plenty in the bin at the end of the cycle. They give similar results to a cordless upright, but obviously they do it automatically. Not a substitute for a mains powered vacuum, but good for keeping the carpets clean from day to day.

Bruce Solomon over the years we have had a Corgi she hated the vac I had a Border collie she hated the vac, and now I have a dutchie and she dfinately hates the vac and I never teased any of them with it and it's very annoying to have them attack it when I'm trying to clean so everybody is outside when I can or in the crate.
