Is it just me or how the policeman yelling “stop” and putting his arm out when riding his bike on the opposite lane was very dangerous? I’m easily startled and could easily see myself losing control of the scooter in this situation.
@xvaldez32842 жыл бұрын
Something similar happened to me when crossing a road on a euc. Was planning to wait on the bank in the middle while some oncoming cars passed but one of the cars started violently honking at me as I was slowing down to dismount which startled me and caused me to slip almost causing the euc to roll into traffic by itself. Like dude I was already almost at a full stop and you were nowhere close to hitting me. There was enough distance that I could have easily crossed the street without even needing to wait if I floored it but decided it'd be safer to cross in sections. Like people are so focused on trying to avoid an accident they damn near cause one themselves.

Scooter laws are completely daft... Here in Denmark you are only allowed to go 20 kmph on the e-scooter but that is so slow that they get in the way of bicycles but at least the scooters are not illegal but there is certain rules for the scooters. One are to follow the bicycle rules, lights on all the time, give hand signals by turns and stop, max 1 person on the scooter, minimum age is 15, max speed 20kmph, white reflexes front, red back and yellow on the sides, max weight of the scooter 25 kilos. This of course makes the faster and more fun scooters illegal, yet! my Ninebot G30 Max is going 35 kmph and i have yet not been stopped or approached by the police. Where is the logic in riding rental scooters legally but not your own? people on rented scooters tend to be far worse riders and more careless then us who actually spend our own money on one.
@elinavance34763 жыл бұрын
in germany you are also only allowed to go 20 kph, but you also need an isnurance and a license plate on your own scooter. I hate these laws... if it weren`t for these stupid laws I would`ve already bought a euc, but I´m scared by the police "stealing" my ride, and about the fines. :-( I own a electric skateboard and I use it very rarely because of the police, but atleast it looks similar to a normal longboard.

What's the issue about a non-rental scooter? I guess its that companies are more likely to be compliant with the mundane laws, but that really just seems like giving a pass to corporations over individuals. Presumably since this means that rented scooters are fine, this means that they aren't as dangerous as being worth a 20 minute talk of which by owning a scooter you'd probably be more aware of than the renters?
@tjfritts90133 жыл бұрын
IMO, it's not about E-scooters, it's about people not funneling their money into other people's pocket for transport, be it by bus or rental of a scooter. If cycling weren't so common and extablished already it too would become regulated to non-existence.

I bought two Emove Cruisers in 2019 to bring awareness to my community on the alternate forms of transportation. My small city of 100k just does not think of using anything other than cars and trucks. Mostly with one occupant. I chose the Voro Emove Cruiser because of its advertised long range, hardiness, and speed. The range and speed are both exceptional. The hardiness is suspect. Voro sold both to me at wholesale price, $800 each since I was going to advertise their product. It was always a long shot in this community but worth a try. I made some riding videos which got plenty of views and fielded lots of curious questions. I have been able to send some referrals to Voro from those videos and conversations. Voro said they would pay me a small commission but in each case, I had to go to Voro asking why the commission payments stayed pending for six months after the sales. Voro claims to be diligent in their pre shipping checks and high quality is supposedly the Voro watchword. When my two Emove Cruiser's arrived; both boxes were heavily damaged and literally smelled like garbage. Like they had been stored in a garbage can and not some quality warehouse. Upon opening the boxes, both scooters had dislodged screws just rattling in the boxes. I had to use some of my own hardware to fix parts. Voro said they would send replacement parts but never did. Its been over a year now. I also ordered two accessory seats. Both installed ok but one has never worked correctly. The seat does not secure in a fixed position and will slowly lower during a ride. Voro would not correct this issue. After riding about 300 miles of reasonably easy trips my wifes scooter started this weird squeaking noise from her back shocks. I tried lubing the shock shafts and then just swapped them with the shocks on my scooter and the squeaking stopped for a time. After another 300 miles on my scooter, the squeaking has returned. My scooter rear tire has started a slow leak and I have to refill before each ride. There are no screws or nails protruding so not sure where the leak is. Overall, the scooters themselves have been fun but since I have never bought another brand, that is as far as I can go with comparisons. The Voro company though has a lot to be desired.
