Looks like one of those variable gauge tracks you see a lot on abandoned lines. Cars and locos using them needed to be equipped with special sliding wheel trucks that can adjust to changes in the track gauge via spring action. Seriously, I'll bet a lot of cars also received damage by hitting the heavy rails hard enough to pull them loose from the ties, moving them that far. There's a person on KZfaq who lives in Poland and, along with a group of friends, is trying to restore a narrow gauge railway. The track runs through several farms and the farmers plow so close to the track their equipment sometimes hit the rails and push them closer together. The group is regularly on the lookout for track damage as they ride their speeder down the line.

From my observations, drivers pretty much suck all the way up and down the East coast, with the suckage coming to a peak around the Washington, DC area. In this particular case, though, the DOT would do well to put a sign up telling drivers that the road comes to a T.

Hopefully they will put in rail that is at least 115 lb and scrap this 75 lb rail. Then again, we should be grateful for this line getting any attention.

I remember this area where you filmed a while back. Some people can't drive. You always wonder where the heck did they get their license? LOL, I think the city should build guard rails with a sign that shows left or right turns only so stupid idiot drivers can not go straight.

Probably just a night time thing especially for impaired drivers … I’m sure they didn’t even see the Stop sign at the end of the road either.

I think you showed me this before.... if this part of the Restoration Railroad? CSX will have to take the Rails out of there and put some New Rails down before having a Train coming down this Line due to this Narrow Rail Derailing a Train.....

Why don't they put up some kind of barrier to prevent people from running into the rail .Also could it be possible to connect both sides by installing a railroad crossing

maybe a heavy vehicle might accidently hit it so its not a narrow gauge tracks since the rails are large

You'd figure the city or county would of put up signs saying turn here with pointing arrows. Guess nobody wanted to fork over the money to get the job done.

I remember looking at your previous video with the bent rail on the CSX Homestead Subdivision from a year or so ago. The bend in this section of the rail looks like something that might happen in an area in the Upper Midwest where a snowplow driver might keep driving his snowplow into a train track that was covered with snow. The snowplow driver would have to be unaware that there was a railroad track in his way to run the plow into the track. The undercarriage of a car is not low enough to bend a track like this. The front of a car should be high enough to go over the track. The tires would then hit the track and cause the car to either stop or bump over the track. This damage looks like it was done by a front-end loader that was purposely traveling at a high rate of speed with the intention of damaging the track.

I know theyve been commenting on the news that the ocean has gotten so much Sunshine the temperature is at an all-time high. Mind you these thoughts are not scientific research but that either is the worst case of sun kinked track or perhaps the hot hoochie coochie girls we're hanging around the neighborhood
