5:32 My problem with this is that the motorcycle seems to be speeding like crazy, at least compared to surrounding traffic. If red car driver looked backed and saw it 50 feet away, they wouldn't have much reason to think that it would suddenly be right behind them 2 seconds later. I had a similar thing once backing out of my driveway. Looked both ways, started to move and BAM there's a kid there suddenly slamming on his brakes. He must have been flying to go that far in that time.

@@TMGMedia73 I'm a motorcycle rider in America, and I ride fast as hell. I lean it hard in the corners. I'll do 180 if I please. The difference is, some of us learned to keep our shenanigans out of traffic and way out in no man's land. Riding around in town in traffic, you'd look at me and never think for a minute that I'm the same guy that will wind out 200 horsepower on the open road. Too many drivers only have one drive mode. Good, bad, somewhere in between. You get people that lock it in at the speed limit and people that go with traffic flow regardless of limit. And every variation in between. I have 2 ride modes. 1 is hooligan racer, and one is courteous city driver. No in between. If you're gonna break the law at least be smart about it

I usually tell first time 4wd purchasers to be careful, 4wd can get you into more trouble than it can get you out of. Around here people tend to put it in 4wd and then proceed to drive like it's a summer day at the races and wonder why they can't stop or side off the corners. They don't realize 4wd will help you go, but it won't help you stop.

5:32 Hey, Andy. If you read this, friend, please, re-evaluate your life. Motorcycle drivers are 30x more likely to die on the roads...and reckless driving, like yours, is definitely a contributor. We don't want you to kill yourself, and we don't want your death to cause an innocent driver a lifetime of pain. So, for the sake of everyone on the road (including yourself), ease off the throttle a bit, stop lane splitting, and please, drive defensively. Wish you the best.

Agreed, i strive to be always mindfull of bikers, firstly because my brother in law is one and i hope for other motorists to be mindfull of him when he's out on the road, and secondly because a couple of years ago i saw a crash between a bike driven by a 16 yo and a car driven by a young girl (biker died instantly, he drove down the one way street in front of my living room at night, going the wrong way, with his lights out, helmet on his arm, pulling a wheelie. Literally cut the car's engine compartment in half, going almost up to the windscreen.) That poor girl was still screaming in shock when the ambulance took her away and he died because he was a dumb kid who forgot that in a bike, his body is the airbag. And Andy, brake checking someone (who might not even have seen you come up at speed but could just as likely have been an entitled a**hole who wanted to scare you on purpose) like you did after overtaking him while complaining won't be doing your life expectancy any favours. You're the first to keep your life safe.

9:53 This is why it's important to be predictable on the road. The black sedan unpredictably floored the throttle and then lane changed erratically. This put them on a collision course with the white SUV who seemingly had enough time and space to pull out.

Very true. The black sedan was probably looking over his shoulder and the white SUV was probably looking right in that brief moment when both decisions were made to speed ahead and pull out, respectfully. The sedan took off like a rocket which caused the accident - though he did have the right of way so I'm not sure how this breaks down (50/50?). The fact that the SUV driver panicked and put their accelerator to the floor for quite some time AFTER the relatively minor accident, almost killing a bag lady and only avoiding major catastrophe by getting stuck in a planter makes me think that person probably shouldn't be driving anyway!

@@seans9125 The black sedan was in a lane he probably shouldn't have even been in (I don't know where this is, but all I see bicycle lane markings and the whole lane is full of parked cars) - it certainly is meant as a lane to race up and get ahead of traffic. The SUV looked, saw what looked like a safe situation, and pulled out while keeping an eye on the other lane that they were pulling into. The sedan raced up, changed lanes without signaling and slammed into a care that was there long before the sedan arrived (if they'd been looking forward they could have avoided the accident by simply NOT putting the accelerator to the floor. Like I said, it's not exactly cut and dry. I guarantee the other insurance company didn't see this as black and white. Depending on the situation, a cop or judge (should it come to that) could EASILY charge the sedan with careless driving at a minimum.

looking for a comment like this. What the Lexus should have done, if there were cars behind the cammer which caused him to be unable to see the other lane, would be to start the turn, but stay in the cammer's lane, that way you can sort of see in the other lane, but that also gives other drivers coming up in that lane time to be able to see them, that way they can stop to let them through, or in this case since there was plenty of room, have the cars queue up at the light like normal and then have an opening left for them.

It encourages idiots like this guy to take a left across two lanes of traffic directly in front of you, and he's so close to you when he does it that he can't possibly see the other lane. SO many accidents are generated by this scenario. Instead... pull up, and don't leave the gap encouraging the dangerous turn. @patrick3876
@patrick3876 Жыл бұрын
Where I live, other drivers MUST yield to city public transit buses when they put on their right signal to indicate a lane change to the right. I know rules can be different from city to city. I can see when the bus comes into view it has it's right turn signal on, therefore it would be my responsibilty to brake and slow down to let the bus into the lane. Pretty sure the reason this rule exists here is that some bus stops can be close to intersections or changes in road layout, where the bus must move many lanes to the right in a very short distance to not miss the stop.
@Tactical2Wheels
@Tactical2Wheels Жыл бұрын
@@patrick3876 no such rule here, but I can see where that would be useful in cities. The campus is pretty spread out, and almost all roads are 2 lane and the bus stops are all in wide open areas, so there's never a need for quick maneuvers from them here.

8:14 roundabout are not difficult , but i dont like right hand turning from the inside lane and will almost always use the outside just to be safe on a funny anecdote, there was a roundabout in front of a gas station that i used frequently on my way to work. I watched some high ass guy laugh hysterically driving the inside lane for I dont know how long. He was there when i went through and when i left he was still circling just having a grand old time. I guess he was living his best life and thats all that matters. and mind you this was the same roundabout that I would say fuck it and just drive right through the middle at 4 am on my way home because it was a 'backroad' and not frequented past rush hours

Being a bus driver for the last 14 years, I can easily tell most of the "close calls" are forced. Drivers who needs to guard their space instead of their lives. I drive both car and heavy vehicles, and there's no way you can maneuver heavy vehicles as you can small cars. Let go of the gas pedal when close to a bus or truck, it's not worth your life to speed into a "I was here first" situation". Even if I wanted to stop, there's laws in nature to consider. What's the benefit of being paralyzed in hospital saying " I had the right!!"?

Pulling out without a turn signal makes them 100% at fault. Anytime you enter or exit a lane, you need to use a signal or it is an illegal lane deviation. Even if it is just your lane ending. Without the signal, it is pointless to even argue right of way. Both cars were entering the lane at the same time so if they both had signals, it would have been 50/50. There is no excuse for not using a signal and it could save you a ticket or an insurance claim.

@maartendetemmerman393
@maartendetemmerman393 Жыл бұрын
no, with a double roundabout the left lane is for straight ahead or left, the right lane is for straight ahead or right. They are called turbo roundabout. but in this case this intersection isn't a roundabout its a just a complicated intersection with markings on the ground where each road goes to. the pick up is in a straight ahead or turn right lane and then effectively 'changes lanes' to go left cutting the cammer off. you can see him crossing the markings on the road

@@maartendetemmerman393 Then your rules are not the same as in France (the country of roundabouts lol). Here, the left lane is for left only and the right one is for straight and right. But anyway, it you have to get out of it, you must get to the right lane BEFORE you exit, so the cammer would be wrong, at least in France (and I find it safer this way).
@kubi0461
@kubi0461 Жыл бұрын
The markings are on lanes the road before the roundabout. Essentially both lanes can go straight, because the straight exit has two lanes. Because of that, the right lane must go right or straight and cannot continue past the straight exit because they would be (as in this video) crossing the path of the left lane's path to exit straight. The left lane can only go straight or take the leftmost exit further around. It makes sense, as long as any traffic entering the roundabout recognizes that they need to yield to ANY traffic already in it regardless of lane.

0:30 I'm not making excuses for the guy in the U-Haul, but keep an eye on these rented vehicles as they are often driven by people than have never driven a similar vehicle (especially if it's a larger truck) and the people are also often in unfamiliar territory (driving somewhere they've only been a couple of times or less). 4:10 Pick-up, wet roads - 'nuff said. I don't care what tires you have on standard rims in a 2WD pick-up, they're going to break loose on wet pavement in the blink of an eye with no load - especially since most pick-ups have a ton of HP and torque. The stupid part is that all you need to do is let off the gas and the problem gets solved pretty much instantly - no idea what this clown was thinking.
