What to expect in IELTS Writing Task 2:

Hi. Just nitpicking here, but at 21:39 when the lady say that kids can be easily manipulated by others, I feel it's quite relevant to the topic at hand. That's because impressionable teenagers out with their friends unsupervised by their parents can be manipulated into doing stupid things by their peers. By the way, great work as always.

So the conclusion that I’ve made after this video : have a very clear understandable structure and 2-3 main ideas. Avoid filler “background” sentences because they can be confusing to the examiner. If the sentence doesn’t backup your answer- it is unnecessary

MBP1: Topic sentence: Unsafe Explanation: teenagers are not mature enough and they are not able to keep themselves safe from an unfortunate circumstances. Therefore, easily get harmed by criminals. Example: In India, the number of thief has increased who often make target of teenagers who usually roaming on the street and attempted crime.

Mbp1:dangerous - The one reason for restriction on teenagers at night time without adult companion is that streets might be dangerous at this time. Explanation : Because, in western world night life is regarded as time that everyone can do what they want, irrespective of level of being dangerous not only for themselves but also for others. Teenagers may easily be participant or witness of some kind of irresponsible affairs that can be life-threatening. Example: A recent research found that more than 70% of movements consciously or unconsciously done by people at night time is very dangerous for alone pedestrians whose age is 15-19.

Sir i think the introduction does not match exactly the main thought of the given statement. From what i understand is that the curfew is being implemented by the US govt, not mainly by the parents.

Very nice video and a clear step by step explanation. But i do have a simple question if you don't mind. When Explaining the main topics in MBP1 or MBP2, should i present let's say 2 explanations per 1 topic as a chain or can i deliver them separately. Or does it depend on the type of essay? You mentioned in this video that it's better to have a chain of explanation regarding topics in this "Opinion essay", but i do notice separate explanations in other types of essays as well. Thank you in advance.

Hi Chris, your materials regarding IELTS writing are amazing and after you have explained everything, it seems not so tough to write a decent essay. However, I do have a question. In most of your essay samples and those you are explaining in your videos, there are only the main advantage and the main disadvantage (problem - solution as well). I mean, a myriad of IELTS resources tell you that you need to write at least two reasons (or whatever you are asked) if it is said in the plural, and you are getting penalized if otherwise. I am not talking about so-called "trainers" on the internet, I mean the official materials. For example, IDP, the organisation responsible for providing IELTS in Russia, organize webinars for the participants where I have heard this information. So, the question is, is this obligatory for scoring 7 or above? I find it quite difficult to squeeze in a few reasons (or whatever) and explain/develop them properly. since time and space is not infinite. That is a really pressing issue and I would be extremely glad if you elucidate it. Perhaps, it is worth recording a video about it with some examples because it is essential for many students struggling with Writing. I am looking forward to your reply.

It is certainly possible to score a 7 or higher by fully developing one main idea in each paragraph. Having only one main idea allows you to fully develop your explanation and example and this will lead to a well-developed essay overall. @@Ieltsadvantage Thanks. That is such a relief. Actually, it sounds logical, it is not a test on your counting skills. However, why it is so? I mean, an overwhelming amount of reputed sources keep saying so and paying attention to it, what is the reason behind this? As I said, it is official info if I can say it about IDP. I mean, that is extremely weird.

One person was arguing on how to write the opinion essays saying it doesn’t need to contain outline which has idea 1 and idea 2, so based on your teaching I firmly stood on my point and explained your way of teaching. Then he showed me a high level essay sample without two ideas in the introduction. Still, I disagree his point but dunno how to prove that high level essay got that mark without an outline. Or do we have other ways of writing an opinion essay? Thanks for your reply in advance

Hi, Chris, I thought there was not any problem in making up the examples, because they are not testing our veracity but our English. So I'm a little confused when you corrected her sentence "Ireland doubled the police force". Good day!i have a terrible mistakes on my writing 2 test but writing task1 i think i did the whole task well however on writing task 2 i didn’t finished the exam only few paragraphs with no conclusion.please let me know if this will give a bad score or 4 .i am so worried its been a week i haven’t sleep becoz of that .please help me i am asking for your opinion regarding this problem .

It is normal to feel nervous after doing a test but there is nothing you can do about it now. What you should do is just wait until you get your results and we will provide you with the help you need, if you need it. Best of luck with your scores!

SIr Please help to provide band score on my essay. Travel restriction at night for young people is beneficial and helps them to protect by an untold incident. In certain areas of US a movement band has been ordered so that children should not be allowed to go out of their homes else they should be along with their elder family members. In my opinion, this has positive effects on the wellbeing of adults and the prosperity of society. The first and foremost benefit is that the children will be safe from any crime such as theft or robbery. Many dangerous people come out at night in order to do some robbery of money or snatch mobile phones. Mostly they look for young individuals as they have less power and energy to protect themselves. In fact, there are investigative reports in US which state that 80% of crime happens with young people at night time. Secondly, young individuals have the tendency to indulge in wrong activities such as going to pubs, drinking alcohol and starting any prohibited addiction. There is no one to see them when it is dark and they can start such unethical activities with their friends. All these activities have a negative impact on their families as well as society. There are minimal chances that they can start a good career or support their family in a good way if they involved in such activities from an early age. In conclusion, ban to travel by government for young individuals have more pros for them to protect their future life and society. In order to stay away from the stressful movement, the parents should overlook their children and advise them wisely to strictly follow such late hour travel restrictions made by the government.

A curfew has been exercised in some states of the US and it is strictly prohibited for children to go out of the home without accompanying an adult, especially at night. Although these rules and regulations seem like a bit tough for a child at a young age, they have been imposed by considering the safety and health of every citizen. Personally, I agree with this view as teenagers can be irresponsible sometimes and often adult guidance is needed to understand society. Teenagers are easily distracted by fun activities in society and can be irresponsible. In other words, they are more likely to seek for pleasure even during a pandemic and can put the whole community in danger. In addition, teenagers tend to underestimate the consequences of these tough situations. During COVID-19 pandemic, when everyone is told to practise social distancing, teenagers in the US did not follow the said request and continued their usual daily routine in shopping centres and beaches. As a result of that, authorities had to impose strict rules against teenagers’ outdoor activities in order to protect the whole community. Also, adult guidance is mandatory for them in a danger period. It is known that adults are knowledgable and aware of what is happening around the globe. While youngsters spend most of their time watching movies and playing games, adults seek information about the country’s status by watching the news and reading newspapers. Hence, grown-ups know how to behave during a curfew period than youngsters and adult guidance is needed for them. For these exact reasons, an adult should stay with children every time they are going out. To conclude, it is apparent that children can be irresponsible sometimes and tend to take curfew measures lightly. We must not forget that these rules have been implemented to their own safety and one small mistake can cost thousands of lives and millions of dollars to a country. Therefore, the decision which has been taken by the US government is practical and completely justifiable. Words count: 336
