South MS here. Switch grass doesn’t do all that well here. Same for buckwheat. I tried Egyptian wheat for food plot screening and cover to stand/box access. It failed due to drought plus its not cheap and has to be replanted every year. Then I gave giant miscanthus a shot and it took off like crazy. 5 feet tall first year from just a root planting. Should double that height next year. Very hardy and expands rapidly. Easy to control. Wish I had gone with it from the start.

Thanks for adding that. I spun my wheels with switchgrass for years where I needed it the most on a new plot. I finally got it established and it's really nice (featured in my latest video) but I really wish I used something like that in the interim until it got going.

@@HobbyHarvest It will do well in the lower north but it really thrives in the humidity here down south. Its about the only screen cover that has impressed me thus far. You’re right, switch grass is often challenging to establish and take off but nice when it finally does.

Great Video! I just picked up a piece in Clark County and haven't started doing habitat yet as I need to finish rehabbing the cabin first. I don't personally own equipment yet. I do have an atv and see some people in the area renting out atv implements. Do you feel those are effective or am I better off renting more expensive equipement? If I can do it on a budget with atv's that' would be great but I don't have time to waste either. Just curious what your thoughts are on it?
