Yeah, I remember this one team game I was in I mistakenly thought the enemy ally was deployed next to their ally in the woods and moved up most of my army leaving minimal protection for my backline and it turns out the enemy had vanguarded behind me and my ally and we got sandwiched between the armies and got faced rolled. I've also done similar tactics of bait and switch myself. Honestly it's just like the saying goes, you win some and you lose some. The important thing is did you have fun? Honestly if I was the dwarf even losing that would of been an enjoyable game. No cheese, just good tactics.

I mean, they aren't resistant to magic anymore. Which is stupid, but CA didn't want dwarves to outshine the new demonic factions.

yeah so I haven't watched too much Dwarfs vs. Furies games when Gyrocopters were used. Any idea what the competitive consensus on Gyros is when faced with Furies? Are the Brimstones or the Steam guns more popular? (I imagine Steam are more popular vs. Skaven and Beastmen and low armor chaff factions, while Brimstone more popular vs. Chaos and hard armored targets). I do know that Gyros are an important tool for Dwarfs right now, especially in Dom. I just dont know how people feel about them as a core, or keeping them alive when 4+ Furies are bearing down on them

I feel like bringing gyrocopters into a fight vs a faction known for a LOT of ranged play and decent fliers isn't going to be high on many people's priority list.

@@LurchTheBastard It can work if you keep the gyros close to slayers and land them to bait furies to the ground once they target your gyros. But probably more micro than its worth, given how much more cost effective furies are in that kind of exchange.

@@milkandcookiesTW Gyros into Tzeentch is a terrible idea due to Screamers even more than Furies but both units can deal with them relatively easily.

It's not so simple as this! In WH2 maybe, but Irondrakes have Spell resist not magic resist in WH3. Also I suspect that the Flamers have resistance to the Irondrake attacks too, which I forgot exploded. The Irondrakes win, but definitely not a hard counter.

Wouldn't Rome, or Rome Remastered, be Total War 3?

The LoC RoR also has +60 armor to represent a constant glittering robes.

Known exploit. The Warhost of Zharr, Zhatan the Black's faction, gets a campaign ability in multiplayer that it is not meant to have. If you see a Chaos Dwarf player with a blue shield for their faction, you might want to dodge.

I will say dwarf gunline was the one counter to the flying circus of tzeentch in table top fantasy due to the anvil crippling d3 units flying abilty each turn and do dmg. Interesting how the matchup has changed in real time with bigger maps

Their flame puffs have surprisingly small hitboxes. Unless the sightline lines up in a favorable way, most of their flame shots will fly past or over their target. You see this a bit even in this game, around 9:00. Despite the amount of flamers shooting, surprisingly little damage being done.

one thing about "paying for themselves" to pay attention to, is if the unit survived or not. all of these flamers still had a LOT of spunk (if not all) left, meaning they ran out of enemies to fill in more "value" - keep in mind they could also replenish their ammo. the most important thing about the gold value a unit got on the field is if they routed / were killed off or not. if not, it only means something if they got a massive gold value. if they survived and healthy but didnt fill in their gold value, one can chalk it up to the battle not lasting long enough for them, they chose cheap targets, or the unit doesnt do a lot of damage. moreso its more important to pay attention to how the unit played out on the battlefield. did it do its job? did it survive and with how much hp? was it effective in battle? what were its expectations and goals on the battlefield and did it reach them or exceed them?

glad you enjoyed it! and yeah damage value is a useful stat but doesn't always tell the whole story. sometimes it gives the wrong impression. very possible to get huge value on a unit and it still not have done its job or contributed in the way it should have to win, and vice versa

Its not much different than putting archers behind a treeline where they ignore the vegetation while taking reduced damage back. Dawi dude just needed to reposition to objective 3 and bait the flamers out of their cover
