This was one that was a no-brainer for me to buy, it just took me a while to get it. You can even play solo, if you wish to, which is extremely rare for this type of game. Great review gals, looking forward to the next one! I like the fact that even for a much older game we still see different reviews from all over. Hopefully, this will give some newcomers to the hobby a chance to try and buy games that they would otherwise never see!

I'm in Spain (but Anglo-centric ? is that even a word) and in all honesty you two make the best board game reviews anywhere, informative, immaculately presented and then you decided to quit doing that ? It brings a tear to my eye. Based on this video, I'll make the final decision on whether to buy this.

Wow, that pronunciation on the designer's name! I'm assuming it's dead on, because you said it so damn confidently and smoothly! I love that guy's work, but I've never had any idea how to pronounce his name... I listened to you say it in the video like 5 times. I still wouldn't dare try to say it myself. :)

I play a barbarian in my D&D game. Sounds like this would be fun, lol.

The only issue I have is the tiny text on the cards. While the art on the card is fantastic, I wish they would have shrunk it a bit to get a larger font size.

Based on my playing of the game I have to disagree with the positive review, or at least with the reasons stated here for it being a good game. I would say the people who will enjoy this game are those who like a more multiplayer solitaire style of boardgaming. There is no strong interaction in the game. Yes, barbarians as well as other races sometimes raize a building but this will mostly simply help other players not hit. Yes, at the beginning of the round people choose buildings from a common display of a few face up cards but you just choose what's good for you and the order is simply player order. More importantly though, the game feels unfun in its core mechanics: not much meaningful choice. You draw only a few cards and just choose the best one to build in your empire. You could ask your opponents to show what exactly they've all built but this slows down the game enormously and often is irrelevant to you anyway. For me it is a game of play by yourself and see who has the most points at the end.
