This 20 Minute Gentle Workout for Seniors will improve your heart health and endurance. It is in a 20-20-20 format with 20 exercise rounds, each 20 seconds each and 20 seconds of rest between rounds! Thank you Julie for the suggestion to make this beginner workout no equipment and no jumping! 20 second rounds are my mom’s favorite!
This beginner workout at home is 1500 steps more or less depending on your pace. It features two sets of 5 exercises with no jumping each done twice. Want to challenge yourself? Do it as a beginner HIIT workout and ramp up the tempo and intensity during the exercise rounds.

Love these 20 minutes workouts. Time commitment is easily met, and it can be done more than once if time permits. Also my grandkids like to join in since these are short.

Awesome workout and like so many of the other exercise videos right on track for many reasons. Aiko looks wonderful and walk a good mile on Saturday. All the extra work Aiko has done in advance has paid off in more ways than one. Thanks for all these minutes to improve our heart health, strength, endurance and balance. I loved the variety on this one; it kept me on my toes! Even though I think I was Mochi in my former life and kept wanting to jump and relax on my couch! 😻Your mom is my hero and such an inspiration. I love that this can be done as a gentle cardio or that you can do the quick rounds HIIT-it-and-quit-it style for a harder workout. And some new moves to learn, too! Thanks for this workout. Today (Aug 13, 2023) is rain on and off, so time for an indoor video. Participated in an 8 week in-person once-a-week exercise class with neighbors where moves were slow and similar to the moves with Yes2Next. Was so good to be in the presence of others while exercising! How lovely to have a mix of online and in-person workout times.

This is what I needed. My PT said I need to try to alternate slower and faster workouts to not overdo it with my hip until I my movement is appropriate. This helped after a weekend of long walks and resulting pain. Thank you!

Hi ladies, I’m back from four weeks in France, no exercise except some walking - but that just ambling around beautiful villages and gardens. Another great vid, Julie; thanks. But it was just a bit confusing as to the rest periods. For the rest period, do you keep moving and walking in place? I couldln't tell when you started and stopped sometimes. I guess I'll figure it out.

The rest periods are called "active rest periods" which means yes, you can keep moving by walking in place at a pace that works for you. 👏 Doing so adds steps to your daily total and keeps your heart and muscles moving. That being said, you can always rest by taking a break for the few seconds too! 👏 If a chair or sofa is near, it's perfectly ok to sit and rest! Listen to your body! Keep up the good work! My doctor wants me to get my heart rate up but I have a hard time checking it and it doesn’t go up much but I love these exercises and I should probably do them twice but after once I’m tired do you have any ideas how to get my heart rate up and how to check it.

Tracking your heart rate can be done in several ways including: 1) using a wearable on your wrist that can track your heart rate; 2) Recording your pulse at rest manually - using two fingers to feel your pulse for 1 minute on the inside of your wrist or front of your neck and then doing the same during exercise to compare the two; 3) the Talk Test (more on this later). Federal guidelines say that to gain substantial health benefits, adults should do at least 150 to 300 minutes a week of moderate-intensity physical activity or 75 to 150 minutes a week of vigorous physical activity. For moderate-intensity physical activity, your target heart rate should be between 64% and 76% of your maximum heart rate. You can estimate your maximum heart rate based on your age. To estimate your maximum age-related heart rate, subtract your age from 220. For example, for a 50-year-old person, the estimated maximum age-related heart rate would be calculated as 220 - 50 years = 170 beats per minute (bpm). The moderate intensity range would be: 64% is 109 bpm and 76% is 129 bpm. For vigorous-intensity physical activity, your target heart rate should be between 77% and 93% of your maximum heart rate. To figure out this range, follow the same formula used above, except change “64 and 76%” to “77 and 93%”. Phew! With all that said, the Talk Test is a simple way to determine if you're doing moderate or vigorous intensity exercise: Hearing your breathing, but still holding a conversation can indicate you're doing moderate intensity exercise, such as a brisk walk. Getting only a few words out between gasps of air can indicate you're doing vigorous activity. Great job on exercising...doing only one set of exercises is fine. As you get stronger, your endurance will improve. Stay with it! 👏

Hi there! We currently don't have a 10/10 cardio round workout -- but we'll add it to our list! Thank you for the suggestion! In the meantime, here's a 10 minute straight walking workout with 30 second rounds of walking bit.ly/48cDWJV The beauty of this one is you keep your feet moving, but there are no big arm movements. We use dumbbells but you don't have to use them. Without weights, this is a simple lower body walking workout. Though the rounds are 30 seconds -- rest when you need to! Hope this is helpful! ❤️

I have to say, for the 20 second workouts the movements should be kept as simple and basic as possible. If a move has several components and is more complicated, I find it frustrating trying to get the move right before the segment ends. Also, if I have to concentrate too hard on learning a move I lose interest. My opinion~
