Hi Cliff. I have gone down a similar rabbit hole to you and now have quickly become a fan of the Dasqua digital tool height setter and even their calipers. Surprising build quality for the money. Repeatability is excellent and easy to calibrate being digital.

Hi Bert. I will link it here so we can discuss. www.dasquatools.com/dasqua-high-quality-digital-zero-setter-z-axis-scale-digital-zero-setting-device-product/ I can see some pros and cons. Cheers Cliff

Bert if you get time I'd like to hear your thoughts. A couple of concerns I have is that it looks made of alum ?- (that would give it a different thermal expansion than the machine), and I don't see a Z reference surface for tool and work offset relationship probing (see video part 1 from 16 min ). Pluses seem: It can stay put as is coolant proof, has very fine resolution, and price? Cheers Cliff

@@Threadexpress Looks like he didn't respond, Positioning accuracy & repeatability is 0.001"/0.01mm Resolution: .0005"/0.01mm 2" model $72.00 USD 4" model $155.00 USD It is aluminum I don't have a grinder so I can't make my own to tolerances any tighter than a tormach 440 will hold. If you can make them to a reasonable price, preferably made to fit a mitutoyo 0.0001" plunger DTI so I could buy that separately and put it in, I'd love to support you with a purchase. IDK how much it would be, but 3 pieces of precision ground steel, without the DTI, about $100 to $150 USD maybe...?? Much higher than that and it might be a tough sell, unless you include a DTI, then again I don't know anything about properly quoting prices. Currently saving pennies to afford one of your probes. My tormach one is um.... well it's a probe technically... and the Z is pretty accurate.... the X & Y leave some stuff to be desired, your video explained why. I'm kinda new, but it seems like getting up off of my wallet and buying a probe I can trust 110% for precision and accuracy is probably worth it, from what I'm learning.

@@joearledge Thanks. So far demand has been too low to justify an efficient size production run. Cheers, Cliff

@@Threadexpress Thanks. I think you mentioned before about difficulty in marketing. Not sure how much it would help, but what about when you come up with a new product, you send it to the most popular YT CNC/ lathe/ manufacturing related channels to review. Either give them one, or sell it to them at cost. The logic is, a lot of people in the community watch those channels, so it gets the word out. If your product stands on it's own merits(yours seems to) then it just grows from there. Your probes look amazing, but if I hadn't found your channel, I wouldn't know about them and wouldn't be saving up for one. Maybe your target customer is a little different(full on multi million dollar manufacturers Vs. small businesses and hobbyists), so maybe that wouldn't work, I don't know. I do know that in the world of shooting and reloading, popular YT channels and forums in the community is how I learn about non-mainstream products that are better than the main stream ones, or not offered in the mainstream. I don't know if that's helpful or not, I'm still learning about business and manufacturing.
