Absolutely NOT. I own both watches (got the silver version) and this Seamaster is much closer but the Sub is still better in the details. The clasp is much better, the bezel action and specially the spectacular resale value. Closing and unfortunately, I have to bring it back to my dealer because the date wheel is scratching at the beginning of the month, thank god for the new warranty policy. Never had an issue with my Rolex(s).

The tapering is more comfortable, my Sub runs at +1 so other than the Omega anti magnetic properties the Rolex is more accurate. Sub has platinum filled numbers vs enamel in the bezel. White gold vs idk on the hands and indices. The clasp is better on the Sub and the resale kicks the Omega’s ass. That being said, I still LOVE my Seamaster and wear it often, but it’s no Submariner.

Green Erick try owning a GS spring drive for a bit before recommending one. My GS SBGC221 was a nightmare, got rid of it once the warranty was up. Within a year the watch stopped moving, apparently a common issue if you travel. Spring drive uses magnets in its system and the airport security scanners wreak havoc on spring drive movements. About a year later the watch gradually started to run fast until it reach about 3 minutes fast a day and I sent it back to Japan for repair. GS told me that this movement requires a service every 2-3 years at $880 and this would be the last time they repaired the watch under warranty if I don’t pay to service my still under warranty watch. Two months later my watch came back from GS working again and within days it was sold. Spring drive watches in my one watch experience are very temperamental due to their heavy use of magnets in their movement. And even my A lange or aquanaut does not require 2 year service but 7 year servicing and both cost about $600 usd not $880 usd. The GS is a beautiful looking watch and very well finished case and dial but definitely not a great movement is you travel a lot or work around magnets.

Green Erick taking my omega seamaster or patek aquanaut causes no issues most modern watches have magnetic guards of some sort. And even ones without typically are not that sensitive like my Rolex or nomos typically are fine. It’s just unfortunate that the spring drive uses magnets that are sensitive and not protected. GS even warned me not to wear them around metal detectors, which now a days are at most public places in nyc, like museums, schools, sports stadiums, concert halls, etc, so completely avoiding any magnetic interference is difficult.

265petsar I’ve bought a few Rolex’s over the years, my AD will call me with a watch option even if I wasn’t on the list just because I’ve agreed to pay him in cash over credit card, this way he can make 4-6% more without charging over retail. If someone is smart about how they represent themselves to a dealer their watch will magically appear and buying a bunch of unwanted watches is not every dealers way, just become friendly and find out what’s gets you in the door. For myself it was paying in cash or charge.

Watch Hobbyist it’s a bit of a shame Omega went a touch bigger at a time trends seem to be going a little smaller. I haven’t seen the new one in the metal yet so it’s probably best not to decide between PO or SMP until I do.

you've summed it up perfectly, I love the blue, but i always think about what it would go with in terms of clothes.less versatile, if I had a speedmaster and an aqua terra to wear for different occasions id for sure get the blue but seeing as i can only afford one the black it must be! - its still a stunning watch

I believe it's not a problem due to the fact that the smp changes its date between 00:00 am and 00:30 am. The seikos fx take about 4 hours to change. Edit: so only be careful in that half hour on the omega.

Bill Latibay yeah omega said with the new 8800 movement changes date within the first 30 minutes of the day, so just be careful not to change date within that time period. Older ETA movements starting changing dates around 10pm and didn’t complete until around 2am.

Personally for me, the Omega is far superior in the hand, plus it has a date feature. Te Tudor is trying to be something it's not... a vintage watch

The Tudor gmt is one of the only Tudor’s I’d consider, it’s the newer in house movement with a complication, shared with Breitling which I like. Only downside is Tudor quality has definitely dropped recently since they’ve amped up their production and become more popular. The omega definitely has a more accurate movement with a ceramic bezel over Tudor’s aluminum bezel and Omega’s ceramic dial as well. Omega definitely feels and looks much better finished but the Tudor has its own charm. I think you’d have to decide which style you like better, the Tudor gmt is very retro Pepsi Rolex before Rolex went to ceramic and the omega is a very updated look with better fit and finish. If your goal was a Rolex go with the Tudor is you want a modern dive watch go with the omega.

I own a Tudor GMT with jubilee bracelet and it’s one of my daily wears. Perfect for travel. Now I’m thinking of a Seamaster. Never ending journey…cheers!

Your absolutely right. I have the SMP 300D in Blue and a Pelagous in Blue. Both divers but I wear them both differently. Omega medium dress, the Pelagous knock around tool watch.

The case of the new model isn’t all that different, but if you don’t like the wave etc, the old model is still available in a lot of stores

Watch Hobbyist....it’s larger in size. To a lot of people, myself included, that makes a big difference. I picked up the 2017 model instead at an AD for 40% off.

Mr Bud who I went from the black Sub date to the blue wave Seamaster. The Sub just got to be a bit bland, even with how classic it is. So much more character and technical upgrades, the Seamaster leaves the Sub in the dust. And I’m admittedly a Rolex fanboy.

I think that the quality is there on the new omega. But.....at my local AD they have many many Omega 300 for sale. They have ZERO rolex sportdmodeld in steel. I know that if I buy the omega i’m gonna take a big hit, with rolex I can enjoy the sub for many year and sell it for a little bit less or a little bit moore.
