I have always been an advocate of minimal products and almost zero spending when it comes to growing out natural hair.
Ingredients:
Water spritz / herbal tea spritz e.g Neem water
Scissors
Satin scarf/bonnet/pillowcase
Long-term protective style (3 weeks minimum)
Long-term wash (at least 3 weeks stretch with Sulphate free shampoo/black soap )
Frequent trims once your ends are due (averagely every 6 months)
Weekly routine:
Spritz with water/tea morning and night at least 4 days in the week.
Always sleep with satin
Massage scalp twice weekly (oil is optional)
how i double my hair growth after plateau grow natural hair without products,
grow hair without products,
long natural hair,
grow long hair,
why your hair wont grow past a certain length,

I love this. I'm a new subscriber love your content. It's so refreshing. I have almost completely stopped using store bought products, but I love the diy life I love knowing exactly what is going in my hair and seeing what my hair likes and dislikes. I struggle with long term styles. I wish I could easily go a month in cornrows. I just can't keep my hands out of my hair. I recently tried a challenge which has me washing my hair only once every month, I wash weekly so I thought my scalp was going to be itching and dirty but I haven't experienced any of that. I am looking for a simpler routine and hair regimen that allows me to get length retention.

This is great. Thanks so much ❤️ I can relate to the itchy part, but a simpler routine could supress that like you said. Nice that you're already seeing positive results with that. But...the 'hands on hair issue though' 😂 Best to always keep your hands occupied, or have some hands cream.

Have you ever heard about hygral fatigue.... what's your take about it
@Ifeoma_Gift

I may have experienced something similar some years back during the maximum hydration craze. But I won't call it a full experience, especially because at the time, I wasn't sure what damage I was causing my hair follicles and strands. But the first signs I noticed was this lifeless appearance to my strands, very dry and dull. Plus the shedding was just something else, and there was this soreness I felt on my scalp, so I took a break, and not long after, I big chopped my hair. But personally, I don't think getting hygral fatigue is that easy. You have to be really washing your hair like everyday with harsh soaps and deep conditioning too often to end up with such problem.

You're not alone.. lol 😂 That's why I never leave protective styling and scalp oiling out of the mix. With that stretch, you'll be just fine.

Well I don’t agree with this method. Spraying your hair with water alone is not moisture but just hydration. You will need to add a leave in conditioner for a complete moisture because water/tea will evaporate easily and that will cause dryness which will eventually lead to breakages. There’s also hygral fatigue of which I’m not ready to go into details.

It's totally fine if you don't agree with it, but did you watch the vid to the end though? I acknowledged that water isn't enough from 09:00. I also recommended lighter options to add to the routine to preserve moisture, and I mentioned skipping the scalp when wetting your hair to keep it dry and breathable, which should prevent hygral fatigue. Generally, this routine is more suited for low porosity people who retain moisture much longer. It's actually not suitable for everyone. But this doesn't change the fact that some people are able to retain length from this routine...which is simply a combination of protective styling, trims, water, herbal rinses, and mild oils.

More so, I only started using leave-in conditioner like 8 months ago or less, and my hair had already almost hit bra strap before then. So I don't rate leave-ins as a major moisture ingredient for me because they're something I can easily do without.
