Hey Guys! We decided to have a low-key 4th this year (meaning no field fires or home-made car races), we're BBQin' at the shop! So, of course, a gal had to bring a cake! Here's a quick and easy way to make a fun cake for the holidays!

That is one fine cake. Good job teaching the boy how to bake. I used to love to stand at the stove and help my grandmother cook. Helped everyday no matter what. Those are some good memory makers as well. 👍

Love the whole family dynamic of the channels, I'll be honest I never thought I'd end up watching a cake baked through following VGG but here I am. I used to hand whip the cream at his age, my arm would get a bit sore, but being able to lick off the cream was the best prize. It was also New Zealand full cream unfiltered untreated straight from the cow milk- the best!.

This is fantastic 😊 Growing up, us kids were not just expected to split wood, work outside, etc., but we also had assigned weeks where one of us would be expected to cook, and this reminds me of those fond memories in the kitchen with my mom. Great to see you teaching these things to your boys, Jessica. I promise you their future wives will appreciate it one day! 👍🏻

It’s really nice to see you and your son cooking together .teach them early and and it will pay off in the long run ,my wife and I did it with our children at his age and now we do it with granddaughter it’s a real blast the kitchen is a complete mess but it’s fun and well worth it

So important for the kids to learn how to cook! My kids weren't always with me when I baked or cooked but I just learned that they picked up their skills from just watching! Never knew that! They are making all sorts of meals now! I'm impressed! I definitely want to make this maybe for Halloween! Got some great ideas.....Thanks Jessica for sharing!!

My mom taught me how to cook at the age of your son, she also taught me how to can foods. This was during the Korean war which kept food on our table at the time. Thank you for this video.

Good for you Jessica! I believe that all boys should know how to cook well. If you like to eat you should know how to cook. The cake looks festive and delicious. The best recipe that I see here is the one for a close and loving family. Blessings!

Really enjoyed your video. Spending time with your son and teaching how to bake a cake is outstanding. The memories will last a lifetime. My younger brother, now in his late 60’s, would watch our mother in the kitchen when he was quite young. Remember him baking a cake all by himself when he’s was 6 or 7 that was great. @@michaeltablet8577 Thirteen! Now that's a family. We were "only" five, mom and dad always had time for all of us. Didn't matter how stressful their day had been. Heck, they still have time for us today even though we are all grownups. I feel blessed to have such good parents.

Jessica, if you put the flour in the pan and cover it with a cookie sheet you can hold the two together and shake the flour around for an easier way to coat the pan.

Might be funny, but that's asking for a slobber knockin and make your own PB&J for a month from the ole lady if he criticized her cooking in the least way. Can't imagine her spending a lot of time making a great recipe and he says "It'll be fine...Nope". No amount of singing George Jones 'take me back' songs can smooth that out.

Fun to see Bentley learning to bake. I remember my youth in the kitchen with mom. I always got to lick the beaters too. Great memories. Never thought to heat up the frosting. Excellent tip. A guy with a sweet tooth could just sip on it from the tub 😋

Sorry Derek but I just fell in love with Jessica when she said "I don't do odd numbers so we are going 44 minutes" and then "I microwaved this for about 24 seconds". Lol. I am totally OCD with my numbers and have to have everything end in even numbers. I know exactly where your wife is coming from. You guys are an awesome family and now I get to enjoy 2 channels.
