Thanks for the great video. Couldn't agree with you more...owning a MB Sprinter is a "love/hate relationship". Dealer quoted 7 hours labor to replace water pump and related sensors, etc.

Changing the water pump is an easy job on one of these. 1.5 hour max and a nice straight forward job. Got these vans and ALL have done 300,000 +. The 651 engine 2009 to 2018 ended up being a great engine. This problem is very rare with Water pump VAC issues. Out of 60+ sprinters we have NEVER fit or had issues with a 'Carrier plate'. Don't make Mountains out of Mole hills!

My 2014 Sprinter with the L4 has 100k miles and was diagnosed by the dealer with the same issues. Mercedes dealer wants $2500 to fix. Also found out that the inner and outer tie rods on these do not last more than 70k and they wanted $2500 for that repair to. Thanks for your info on this. I am going to attempt to fix this myself.

water temperature does go very hard over 60 degrees celsius, could be the same part to blame? changed thermostat and water pump, still same issue...

I've just fitted an aftermarket circoli water pump and it's missing the ports for it to connect to the vacuum system. Everything seems fine on the test drive but I will keep you updated if it throws any error codes

I Replaced my water pump, and the mechanic said, "Someone else replaced the water pump recently!" I had the mechanic replace it anyways, only to find the SAME DAMM code pop up again! The dealership just did the Recall on the emission, and wanted over $2,000 for the CODE repairs! The dealership said dried coolant infected the sensor and it needed to be replaced. They would NOT tell me where the sensor was and gave me the part number, which turned out to be the WATER PUMP, Not the sensor, for $400.00. I am so sick of the dealership "Pissing on my shoes and telling me it's Raining." I can trust a Thief, not to leave my stuff lying around because it will be stolen, but I can NEVER trust a LIAR! Dealerships are LIARS!!!

Hey!!,quick question for you...would really appreciate help if you could? There is a wiring harness that runs on top of that engine and a plug that comes off on the middle right side,the plug seems to sit around the front of the fuel filter housing and goes down to the left side front of the egr cooler,do you know what it goes to? Its just a little short wire and plug on the right of the wiring harness and only one in the middle on top of the fuel rail. Ive just done the waterpump and fuel filter housing on this and lost to where this plug goes unless it doesnt on some of these engines?

Has anyone had an acceleration issue with these vans. When I step on the accelerator there is a good 1 to 2 second delay before you get any throttle response. its a 2014 sprinter 2500 with L4 diesel

UPDATE! Took van to Ft Myers Mercedes for repair, not a great experience. $1997.57 later and 10 hours in the car getting there and back multiple times was tedious. Unfortunately I live an hour away and had to go back and forth 10 times, drop off pick up... The dealer needs some help getting things smoother and they need to stay on quality control. IMO they need to work with Corporate and help customers with this issue as it is excessively expensive and occurs far too soon and often. Why not at least come up with a plan to get the repair costs down to within reason considering it happens way too soon and too often. The customer might not be delighted but at least they won't walk away feeling like they got Hosed!! to the 10th power! I left a weak Google review on Ft Myers Mercedes but I did not expand on all the details due to space. Things Ft Myers Mercedes needs to work on, IMO: 1) Accountability: The building has Mercedes logos all over and so do all the cars... Yet, the Manager does not want any responsibility for the products shortcomings nor for a single tedious issue with his own dealership. He says there is nothing he can do and only offers excuses as to what happened and you already know what happened... Unless they take down the Mercedes Logo and put up BMW or something else, I think they have to carry the responsibility for the brand and definitely have to be responsible for what their customers experience. 2) Making efficient appointments is tough, when you get there they never have the story straight. Are you waiting for the car to be repaired, need a shuttle, dropping off, need a loaner... they are clueless. 3) They said 1.5 days to repair, 10 days later they got it done the first time but we had to try again 2 weeks later. I had asked my rep to make sure they ordered all the parts ahead of time and she said she would but when I checked with her a couple days before I dropped it off she still had not done so and that is what most likely killed the timing. 4) Communication: As I mentioned, the scheduling, multiple times they had me come in and the Sprinter Tech was not working that day. When the issue came back a couple weeks later the rep said the new redesigned pump failed again and apparently that is not what happened, luckily! It was a simple electrical switch that I think they failed to replace the first time, I think they tested it and it worked for the moment and so they left it despite billing for a new one. 5) Sloppy work: The "Sprinter Tech" was not there for my first appointment for the diagnosis so I guess the junior tech did it and that was a bit scary. When I got the van back my quick review spotted 3 hose/wire holders not returned to their factory mounts so wires and hoses were left dangling, killing my confidence with the quality of work. Two weeks later I popped the same code and had the same problems. There are more disturbing details to this story but I will refrain from sharing to protect those folks that clearly need a “compass alignment” in which I hope they get on their own after some internal study.

would a faulty vaccum on this pump case the temperature gauge to fluctuate? my car is fine for the first 45 min but after temp starting to fluctuate. I changed the thermostat but temperature drops from 90 to 80C especially after a bit of acceleration? It might be ok for a few minutes and then it goes down and up again?it drives me mad! no codes or engine management light on!

I have error P260000, electrical fault or an open circut. Any ide for fix?

Interesting video I think the MB dealers are the same no mater where you leave the just want to rip you off. Question for you do you know where the vacuum pump is located on your van?? Let me know if you can I have the same one

Hi. Thank you for your video. Need some help. My 2014 bluetec 2.1 sprinter went to Field measure. At time of bring in for that procedure van drives with a lot of power , gears switched well no issues (355k km). After I got my van back after FM it started holding on switching the gears+ lost of power. In few days of driving DEF msg came out with 10 start remaining warning.( The tank with DEF was full.no other Code observed. I brought the van back to dealership - they changed something related to DEF system and explained that luck of power is causing by water pump issue and gave my option to change it to get power back. I stated I need my van same condition as I brought first time and not going to pay any other repair causing by Field measure. There ismsg from Mercedes dillership: Hi Ivan, I have been assured by my workshop foreman that once you give us the go ahead with the replacement of the defective water pump and associated contaminated valves, your vehicle will run as designed with full power. Please let us know when you would like to bring it in. It cost 2500$ What is your opinion on it? Thank you

Reiterating the necessity of OEM Genuine Mercedes pump. There is an updated part number. I put in an aftermarket initially and got the P261F code
