Earlier in the year, Daniel brought his Infiniti G37 sedan to Rico’s Garage with one goal in mind, to break the Naturally Aspirated quarter mile record previously held at 12.54@111. No nitrous, no turbos, just the fury of his VQ37VHR. He had no idea how quickly we would be able to make it happen, and in tonights outing, we were able to reset the world record TWICE.

I have a 14 q60 awd. Stillen gen 3 cai, test pipes and axel back, tuned by Martin as well. My best 1/4 so far with full weight no reduction was 12.97 @107.21. Cant wait to do the E85 conversion this coming spring and a few more bolt ons to see what my car can do! Yours sounds great man

Sick!!!! In stock form, it’s insanely comfortable and has some good pull. Add some aftermarket performance mods and it turns into an animal! In this build, we can literally slip the street tires at 100+mph. It’s insane!

@@NickBirdManeS To start, I would go with cold air intakes. Its one of the most noticeable differences in power, where you can gain upwards of 20whp. Past that, the exhaust is super restrictive, so a lot can be done there to open it up, but depending on your budget and sound quality taste, there’s a lot of directions to go. Keep in mind too that if your state requires emissions testing, you’ll be a bit more limited on what you can do exhaust wise.

@@RicosGarageYT ok sounds good! Then tune or something after? So far its a 13 x coupe, i put it on Eibach Pro kit, Spc full camber kit, and some 235s up front 255s in back. Got resonated test pipes on order from Fast Intentions that should be here next month. Then ill have to look into intakes and a tune likely

I just wanted something fun to drive and the "smiles per gallon" are way up there! Excellent job! I have a ‘11 AWD sedan. Invidia Gemini exhaust + Kinetix hfcs and a Z1 tune. I haven’t tested it, but I am thinking it should be good for low 13s.

@@jonolam101 Yea being a much older Infiniti owner myself im not big on that image either, but unfortunately Infiniti cars attract all ages! One of the many reasons i bought a M45 sport instead of a g35 or g37!! The M cars are considered to be there upper level cars, the gentleman's sport sedans!!!👍

Thank you!! The lower manifold really does help. We did some comparisons and we saw more gains out of a ported lower compared to the ported upper. Ultimately both are fantastic to have.

love seeing this not far off from the vq record i think its like a 12.2. shooting for mid 12's in my sedan also last time i went i ran 13.07 at 107. no gutting besides stuff out of the trunk an i wasnt launching it since it was my first time going out being tuned so my 60' was 2.1 im ready to go back an get my 12 lol. what are you launching it at btw?

The all time record is 11.97@114 and that's what we are going for next! Taking the passenger seat out takes out like 75lbs from the car. You'll get a 12 from that alone! We have been launching off the converter at around 1800rpm.

If youre looking for gains, get a custom y-pipe back exhaust made. The factory exhaust is restrictive to be quiet, but opening it up with a 3” exhaust will make a world of difference. If you are somewhere that has e85 readily available, you can get a walbro 255 fuel pump and GTR injectors installed. We usually gain 15whp just running e over 93.

Recently picked up a 2013 G37xS coupe that’s lowered on swift springs, has gen 2 stillen intakes and a muffler delete. Runs a bit rich but still is quick. Any ideas what to do next?

That's a solid setup! If you really want to wake up the car power-wise, you'll want to replace the cats with test pipes and the remainder of the exhaust with something bigger and not as restrictive. When you get under the car, you'll see exactly what I mean.

From a newbie. Are the two circular things on the 37s grill part of the cold air intakes or what? How are they installed??? Assistance greatly appreciated

Correct! So basically, instead of using filters, we attached a set of “ram air” funnels that direct air into the intakes using the same couplers from the intakes. While we don’t recommend it for street use, it’s great for the track because it forces extra air into the intake as you increase your speed.

We’ve seen setups handling 500+ with the 7AT trans, but reliability will come down to who tunes your car and what kind of abuse you put it through. On this G, the flexplate was shattered at around 360whp (or ~430 to the crank assuming 20% loss through the AT) from just every day use, roll and drag racing.

This thing can go faster with test pipes, lightweight pulley kit and some more with reduction. Plus a grounding kit for faster shifts. I think u can do 12.1 in the 1/4

A grounding kit is absolutely needed for these cars. We have some big stuff coming to go 12.1 and more.

The transmission was tuned, but no other mods were done beyond that to the stock G37 trans.

I’ve got a 1st Gen G coupe but damn that HR makes me want a sedan! How hard is it to find one with a 6 speed?

6 speed manual sedan? Extremely hard to come by since they only made sedans automatic. If you find one or wanted to make one, it would require a custom trans swap that requires a lot of fabrication to pull off. It can be done, but you lose a lot of creature comforts in the process and it costs a ton of money to do.

Hey dude I might be chancing the record next any advice while trying to do it I’m gonna be fbo soon and most likely do cams a little later down the line I’m a g37x is what concerns me having extra weight compared to a rwd model

Dont let the weight concern you too much. We did this run with the passenger seat and rear seat out, but not much else was "gutted." You'll be able to move out of the hole easier than the RWD can. I can honestly say the biggest factor for this car was the ram air inlets since they force more in the engine while you're going down the track. This setup could have been improved to be more linear before the G was sadly totalled, but it is what it is. The ram air + cams combo made it have some wild top end power.

We’ve posted the car on various forums and with the help of various tuners and credible sources, we confirmed this is the fastest that any G37 sedan has ever gone in the quarter mile.

Is the car running a one piece driveshaft?

That is correct. We are looking at updating that for 2021.

@@RicosGarageYT yea i have sedan as well but awd, no one really makes driveshaft for them. Plan is to buy used oem driveshaft take to drive line shop have it cut weld and balanced. A one piece shaft could probably get you to 12.32 or maybe 12.30

AWD sedan can move out, but there isn’t as big of an aftermarket performance parts arrangement compared to the rwd sedan or coupe. You’ll definitely have to go custom for your exhaust.

That info is false. There are tons of options for exhaust systems for the awd models. Also, the g37x is slower than the RWD version. Awd does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds from factory while the RWD does it in 5 flat. Mostly due to the extra weight of the awd system

So much has happened that took me away from KZfaq lol. But as far as the G goes, it was actually totalled in an accident maybe a month or so after this record. We were going back with a VR30 trans to attempt 11s in it, but God had a different plan.

That would require a ton of overhaul from the existing platform. If only budget concerns weren’t an issue!

Not us. We aren't claiming that, especially in a family sedan lol. It's hard to compete against a muscle car that has 2 more cylinders and almost twice the power out of the gate.
