Never heard of pizza slime before but it seems like they are just as try-hard and cringy as the influencers they critique. But yeah, they knew exactly what they were doing with these signs and they knew it would go viral. Also, im pretty sure pizzaslime paid influencers , and probably even tea channels like this one to talk about them (“and make sure you mention the brand as much as possible but without being too obvious”)as if everybody knew them, just so people would go “never heard of pizzaslime in my life”, look them up and give them a boost on the algorithm. This strategy is quite well know in Brazilian internet actually (there are even companies that do this specific type of sneaky digital marketing) and although I have never seen it being used in American internet yet (but im sure it has been) I spotted the similarities right away. Its fascinating the lengths that people will go to in order to fake an “organic growth” on social media.

The internet at large has an issue with assuming people are Omniscient, it doesn’t matter how big something is, there are billions of people on this earth and they can’t all know every seemingly “big” thing. I’m constantly coming across KZfaq channels with multi-million subscribers who I’ve never heard of when like 10 years ago everyone would of because there were a lot less of them, overall the definition of “big” or “popular” has changed a lot especially when there’s more competition.

Honestly, my take on this is it doesn't matter if Pizza Slime was previously known for their "satire" or parody of internet culture and influencers, because the very act of having this hyper-exclusive, celebrity ridden Coachella After Party just... Makes whatever commentary they might think they're making a null point. They became exactly what they claim to be taking the piss out of. Also, I don't really trust a brand that claims to be parodying influencer culture, which is rooted in hyper-consumption, by making and selling 'joke' T-shirts for way too much money. Like. C'mon. I just think people are too quick to criticize things they know nothing about.
