One more downside: most musicians getting big become one hit wonders and don’t get any dedicated fan base.

I still feel like Troye is underappreciated. Like yes, he has a decent bit of fans, but for how good his quality of music is, he should have at least Halsey type success. He has the lyrics, he has the production, he has the personality, he has a good voice, he has the energy, etc. He's constantly on late night shows performing, he is friends with the biggest people in the industry right now (Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, etc.). I honestly feel like he should open up for one of them to expand his audience. He deserves better.

I also find very interesting what happens after the tik tok virality, because I’ve seen cases of artists who 2 months ago had like 1.000.000 monthly listeners and now they barely have 100.000 listeners.

As a musician/producer, this is definitely a double-edged sword. Yes, I'm more likely to get my 5 seconds of notoriety but it also forces me to focus more on being an influencer rather than the music. I wish there were more avenues for musicians to become discovered that didn't involve being ensconced in Tiktok or signed to one of the major 3.

i have found some really amazing artists through my fyp. A good example is DYLAN and she had tiktoks about her upcoming single go viral and the song got a million streams. Now that her team knows that it works; literally all of her tiktoks are "my manager wont let me release this unless it blows up", " if this is your aesthetic, stream my song ----", ect, ect as much as i love her, it comes across slightly annoying/needy yk. so i think that as great tiktok can be for smaller artists, the whole tiktok promotion thing can be a turn off for people.

Tbh tiktokers turns singers Bella Poarch is the only one that I will accept in the music industry imo. She has this background and history of song covers even though tiktok isn't exist. And ngl she also sounds good. And I don't understand others that hate her for turning her career to a musician. Why don't give chance to others that is genuinely talented and really wants to create music.

Love Blue Neighbourhood. Troye’s really talented. There are so many influencers that don’t really have talent, but have numbers and that’s it. These days if you have numbers that’s what matters… unfortunately. Yes relevancy and recognition plays heavily into this.

Random people who have no business releasing music have been releasing music since forever. People trying to act like this is just a recent thing clearly do not remember how the gays went up for Paris Hilton's Stars are Blind. Which bops, I'm not gonna lie. She did what she had to do with ha. Also, her song Come Alive... EDM Banger of the century. No, I do not take constructive criticism.

Honestly, I don't see it that bad, it's like what happened with Twitter or KZfaq back in the day, when I see a pre lem is when people instead of using music as an expression is just to make money... It's a good way to promote it but when artists and mostly labels just want to go viral and they use the artist just to have a trend (Wich is still the same with radio btw) is where it becomes a problem Ps. You look beautiful and I would subscribe to your Patreon if I could but don't have a way to pay it. Sorry :(

I don’t think that it’s anything new in musicians / producers trying to adapt to new formats. Earlier on there was a radio format, which had it’s own distinct features. Before that were vinyl records, which could contain only 40 mins of the material. And so on.
