I use a custom double D ringed version. Sort of similar but I think yours adds a bit more protection fir the knuckles & fingers. Nice.

Yeah, that sounds very similar. Give it a broad blade and you'd have a tough katzbalgar too!

Thanks for the review! I know this is how the rapiers are depicted in the 1561, but I'm surprised to see it this way - I feel like the ring would be way more useful on the outside rather than the swept bar. Did that change anything for you?

I thought that until using it. The shape on the outside is comfortable and give a little frontal and also lateral protection. It’s a big improvement. The inner ring protects the thumb nicely.

Having protection on the outside of the guard makes more sense for wear, but the moment you use swords a lot in sparring you realise how vulnerable the thumb is. any small amount of protection for the thumb is a huge step up, and the swept bars provide essentially the same protection for the outside of the hand as having a ring there, if not more for how it encompasses the hand.

How does it compared to the Bloss meyer rapier? I was quite impressed by the neon colored handles you got

It’s much better than the Bloss. The blade is more neutrally balanced making it a better cutter. I’d say the `Bloss is the best thrust only Meyer, Kvetun the best cutter, the new 1561 the best middle ground.

Hello! I'm curious, how is the flex on the blade? I have a meyer's rappier from Regenyei that I believe was assembled with their full-contact blade. It's a fun sword, very cut oriented, but the blade barely bends on the thrust, making me a bit wary to hurt my fencing partners, so I'm looking for an alternative.

is there a way to odder from black fencer to the us there rep in the states is has all most nothing from the catalog and are sold out a lot of the time to be restocked one day in a far off time
