It's a bit disappointing to see how much this may have affected Injustice at EVO. Superman being as strong as he was at the time pretty much filled the brackets with him. They did tone him down, and now I don't see any SM players, but it gives no other character the chance to shine because of how many positives he has; zoning, damage, and a 2 frame super. It's disgusting, and now that he was toned down, I hope that this game still has it's mild competitive chance. Just gotta hope it's at EVO 2014 so I can get a chance to play this in Vegas.

Zoning is using a move wisely to give you the space you need to work from. What was happening here is not zoning. It's spamming until he has enough of an advantage to actually go in.

Here is the steps to winning an Evo tournament in Injustice. 1. Spam laser based projectiles over and over with Superman 2.grab continuously with Superman. 3.Spam more laser beam projectiles from afar turtle style with Superman. 4. Follow step 1 through 2 you won the Evo tournament.

I've never even played this game once, and this is the first video of the game that I've watched, and I can already tell Superman is the OP character of the game.

It's up to the game designers to stop that from happening. Going for the most effective tactic is the logical thing to do.

The problem isn't the play styles of the characters, it's the game itself. Never realm studios has always put a focus on zoning over other elements like mix-ups, wake-up games, rushdown and grapples. I think you can fairly judge the quality of a fighting game by the variety of characters and techniques you see in tournaments.

From what I've seen of Zod, he just came out and no one was really familiar with what exactly he could do. That's why he was banned, they were afraid that people wouldn't have enough time to adapt to him or he'd have some broken potential. As for Superman, they probably should have banned him. That Superman user won Evo without any losses by playing lame with the lazers. He's just a really powerful character. At one point, I think he got 30% at full screen with ranged attacks.

I never said I used any of these tactics, I'm just explaining what they are. Granted they're are plenty of was around them, but it's hard to find them unless you know the match up. After playing fighting games for a long time I got some of my friends to play against me as zoning characters (Sinestro, Deathstroke, Superman) and I found ways around them. But the most important thin is to keep your cool

KDZ hopped back like a rabbit to avoid confrontation.And yes there were combos but Crazy initiated all the fights after he dodged all those damn lasers. Spamming means to do the same thing in fighting games too.

I agree with him. There is a pretty good difference between using one move over and over and playing safe, zoning, or playing lame. Spamming is like you keep doing the same thing over and over because it just works. Zoning is along the lines of being actually smart about things instead of mashing the same command like a robot.

Well as different as they may be in terms of principles and reason of execution, they are pretty much the same thing when it comes to the execution itself: Take your character's projectile move, use it, then use it, then use it again.

Oh, yeah, and following the thread all the way back, I agree with you on Injustice too. It probably shouldn't be at Evo. The idea that Injustice somehow deserves a spot, when BlazBlue, DOA, and SoulCalibur aren't in the lineup, is just insane. I guess it's cool to have an Western-made game in the lineup, but isn't that what MK is there for?

Though I agree to some degree I think the reason spamming is frowned upon at the lower levels of play is because it prevents people from improving against good opponents, instead it pits them against dirty tactics which are quite effective against new players. The difference between this and competitive play is that you would expect that the best of players can overcome spamming and find counter tactics against it. i'd say KDZ only won this time because of superman having overpowered moves...
