In today's video, I visited cross river state, a state once considered the tourism capital of Nigeria, known for having the biggest street party in Africa, the highest-paid mountain race, the popular Obudu cattle Ranch, and the Tinapa Business and leisure resort. Fast forward to 2022, the town is now an abandoned city mainly due to corruption and lack of vision. In today's video, we toured the city and asked questions about why the tourism capital of Nigeria is fading.

The problem of Nigeria is subjugation not corruption. Everything is controlled from the center. The North (Hausa/Fulani) controls the center. They will never allow the South benefit from its own resources. Southern Nigeria is an open air concentration camp. Sadly many cannot see it.

Yeah, that's correct. The truth of the matter is that everybody is now involved in the corruption, even down to the man selling garri in the open market. Just recently I tried to search for NIN and the clerical officer insisted that I must give him 10,000 bribe before he would do his job. The whole country has become one cesspit of corruption and brigandage. Everyone is involved but all pointing the accusing finger on the other.

This video touches my heart ❤️🌺🌹🕊️. Because we have a school in Jamaica that is named after this place, which means that some of the people were brought from Calabar to Jamaica. Jamaica is a very beautiful country, but it is plagued with some of very same problems. Greedy politicians who misappropriate public funds for their personal use at the expense of people are destroying our countries.

This broke my heart. In my entire life, I have never ever wanted or desired to visit Nigeria because to me as a West African, we live under the same circumstances so there’s really nothing different to see, but this video showed me so much that I desired to go and experience the tourism village, except as usual, it has been shut down. As I said, we all live under the same circumstances. Less than 30 minutes from where I live is a gorgeous park with a dancing fountain that rivaled that in Dubai. People travelled from other parts of the country to come and see it, and now, it’s shut down. We deserve better! Our hard earned money in the form of taxes are used to build these beautiful edifices. And they are just allowed to be run down. The place is so beautiful, Steven. The view from the drone is breathtaking. I’m sad. Just sad. Will things ever change? It’s disheartening.

As a child I loved visiting these places with my parents, I remember playing games at the games arcade in Tinapa, visiting the museum, reading at the beautiful library. Calabar also had the best public transport system in NIGERIA; it was called “metro blue” buses and very beautiful looking taxis. EbonyLife was once broadcasting from Calabar and the movie “Half of a Yellow Sun” featuring the award winning Chiwetel Ejiofor was shot in Tinapa and Calabar. When Calabar was at its peak it was a crime to litter the streets and you would get arrested if you did, it was clean and green and ahead of it’s time. Now, we weep for the state.

The person destroying our state is named Ben Ayade, Atam man in Buhari's APC who has an extended ambition to one day rule the entire Nigeria in the same way. God forbid! We the Efiks have strongly considered letting them (Atam people) have their own state so they can rule themselves with their corruption and lack of vision. Unfortunately, Obudu will have to go with them. We in Calabar can start again. As long as there's vision and will, there will be hope. Thanks again for exposing this problem.

Absolutely felt like we travelled outside the country at that time. I can't believe the deplorable state of the Obudu cattle ranch as shown in this video. Even Tinapa! Just sad and unbelievable! This video hits differently if you've personally been to and enjoyed any of the places featured in this video. I hope we somehow find our way to recovery in Nigeria. To think that I've been hoping to return to the Obudu ranch (now with my husband and kids)...🥺🥺🥺 Edit: What about the Drill Monkey Ranch (I think that's the name) in Cross River.
