Great info for new bowlers and to remind experienced bowlers.

It's a balance here. Many of our videos attract first time bowlers. This video is directed at new bowlers, but even the most advanced bowlers can fall off track and need a refresher. Thanks for watching!

This is an awesome video! I carry 212 avg, but still find myself doing the upper body thing. I also take a 4 step approach, so actually seeing this I can compare this video to my own videos. Thank you!

@@fbip3z I have never been able to carry this until 2020. I went to a clinic with Amleto Monacelli, Bob Learn, and Clara Guerrero. Amleto worked on my backswing, pushaway, and walking straighter. To this day I still work on what he taught me. At the time of the clinic I went from 200 down to 187. I was in a slump. HUGE. I was ready to quit. He changed my mechanics for the better. If you ever get the chance to attend a clinic, then I strongly urge you to. You won't regret it.

Have had several lessons with coach Shady and attended a couple of his camps. If you have the opportunity to attend one of his camps do it! Doesn't matter what level bowler you are coach Shady can help. He is the best!

easiest to implement is to use lightest ball :D but then eveyrone can easily implement this if they know. Hopefully I will have at least little edge this evening in team building :)

This video came at perfect time. Yesterday during practice I took some video. I noticed my shoulder was going with the ball. I don't know why this is happening lately, but going to use this video to fix this issue.

Very helpful--thanks so much!! We new bowlers appreciate it! Coach Shady, I could be wrong, but it looks as though you were using an Ebonite GB4 hybrid. It's a ball I've been considering, but would only be able to get a "generic core." (I'm 5'0" and 100 lbs., so using a 10 lb. ball.) I've been wavering between that and a pearl coverstock. Since I'm a slower bowler around 12 mph, I'm leaning toward pearl, but find occasionally conflicting information--so, I'm confused. Anyway, thanks again for the bowling hacks!
@insidebowling

You should be fine with a pearl. If it's too angular down lane you can always hit it with some Abralon pads. Thanks for watching!

I was always under the impression that you were supposed to start with your toe on the starting dots, but at 2:45 you started with the dots somewhere back near your heel. When I start with my right foot (which I prefer, as starting with the left feels like I'm allowing too much variance in speed and steps), I seem to find myself releasing a few feet back from the foul line. If you don't start with your toe on the dots, how do you figure out where exactly to put your feet? Or do a few inches not really matter?

Where should one be looking in the approach, swing, and release. Others have told me to look at "your at your target arrow, not the pens. Of course, my body was bent over (wrongly) rather than straight. Hmmm, probably why I thought the "focus" direction was an issue.

I'm a senior bowler and have learned a lot about the bad habits I have acquired just lately. I do have one question. I've watched some pro-bowlers who bend their elbows just before push away. Is there a reason for that?

Hello! is there any tips for lefty bowler to pick up the spares?
@johnls39
@johnls39 10 ай бұрын
Just do the tips in opposite direction. If you have a ringing or flat seven, you would need to stand on the far right diagonally to pick up the seven with a straight ball compared to a righty who has to stand to the far left to throw a straight ball to the ten pin. What you see on the video is no different if the righty is demonstrating to you but in reverse. Each lane has 39 boards (if I'm correct) so count each board from the left to get line-up properly same as for the arrows and the dots.

I was taught that your swing is to be natural and fall like a pendulum. What’s your thoughts?
@insidebowling

You do want a natural swing. You do also want to make sure you get it going with the push away. Thanks for watching.

Yes. Pushaway is key. NEVER go up with the ball. Push out and let gravity do the work.

Hello, I like the video but that chart needs to have "age" added into the ball weight. I am 72, 168 but there is NO WAY I can bowl with a 16 pound bowling ball anymore. I did that when I was young dumb hahahaha and a real good bowler. Well, its been 40years since I have bowled. I will not be trying to bowl with a 16lbs ball...ya feel me? I am working my way back into bowling. Not trying to hurt myself.
