Little Boy Meets Woman Who Wrote Decades-Old Message in a Bottle He Found

Heather Baird and her son Ryder found a message in a bottle washed up on a beach last week and met the woman who wrote it in September 1988. A search of old phone records by the data analysis company Intellaegis led to Jan Popp who says she handwrote the message for her son. Jan was anxious to meet Heather and Ryder and invited them to her home with the help of INSIDE EDITION. These two moms can't believe their once-in-a-lifetime story on how the message was perfectly preserved for decades. #InsideEdition

What caused the estrangement? They’re portraying her as a sad mom, but kids don’t just up and abandon their parents for no reason. The fact that she didn’t reveal the reason and her part to play in the estrangement is very telling. Maybe she was controlling. Maybe she doesn’t like his spouse. Maybe there was abuse. I’m not gonna implore a stranger to call his mom when I don’t have the full story.

Out of interest I googled to see if Jan did end up reconnecting with her son. I can’t find anything but there is a memorial for a Jan Popp who passed away in 2017. She was 58. I don’t know if it’s her but I hope they were able to reconnect x

Chris had a dream about going back to that beach, a calling almost, and so he did. He waited there for hours. It was the dead of night, the beach was empty. Just as Chris turned around to leave, he heard a sloshing behind him. Before him, seemingly having walked out of the water, stood a race of amphibious humans. They said they needed Chris' help. Chris then went off the grid and in secret, he is now is a warrior and protector of the seas.

Estranged means that they don’t talk or see eachother at all anymore. They might have gotten in a verbal fight a long time ago, and haven’t seen eachother since. She wrote to him to say she’s sorry and misses him and wants to see him again
