Sir i want to send email to find a host. Should my email contain my cv only or should it contain the proposed workplan?

Initially you may want to send only CV and a sample paper and a brief outline of the proposed research in a paragraph or so. If the prof is interested you can move further and write a full proposal. I recently got a post-doc offer from Centre for scientific computing at Heidelberg University...Its in a project initially for 1 year and further extension possible to one more year...salary offered is nearly 4500 euros before taxes.. how much it will be after tax?? How about the place Heidelberg? Any suggestion..my background is in thermal engineering (mechanical)

Heidelburg is a nice town in south west Germany. It is a nice place to do a postdoc. Regarding taxes, you may have to pay about 40 percent on taxes but verify this with the university and by searching in google. The safety issue should be low in west Germany but avoid shady areas and bars etc. at night. Congratulations on getting this nice offer and best wishes

Thank you very much, Dr. Please, I have a question. Do I have to determine the research topic before contacting professors or contacting them and then negotiate about the topic? what do you suggest?

You should have a broad area lined up where you are planning to work. This generally comes up from the PhD problem. You can then see who are the professors in that area and write to them about any specific narrow area where they would be interested in writing a joint proposal with you. You could even have 2-3 such broad areas for different professors to expand your search and increase chances.

@@sanaeachag7524 Complete list is all your papers in journals and conferences and may even include reports and thesis written for internal universities or research labs. Key publications would include a shorter list of maybe key journal and conference papers. Selected key publications are very few like 5-10 and ones which are relevant to the application and in the same area as proposed research. They are typically journal papers but can include conference papers if one does not have journal papers. These papers may be read by the selection committee
