Dude, it makes me so happy to hear that. That was exactly my goal. It took me so many hours to try to understand everything. And my problem was, that everything is written for people who already understand the basics. So, I hope I can make it a little bit more approachable. If you have any questions when rewiring your bike, feel free to shoot me a message on Instagram!

Awesome video! It's actually a bit of meditation watching you do the wiring as well. 😉 I've said it before, but it's worth saying again. That wiring is turning out amazing! A quick tip about where to wire the wires. The shop manual usually have diagrams for where the stock wires goes. That can give you some inspiration, even when building a custom bike. Looking forward to the wire size guide video!

That is a great tip. The next video will be about how to develop your own wiring diagram and the one after that will be about how to calculate the right wire sizes. What videos are you working on at the moment? Can't wait for your next one. The last one you released was a cinematic masterclass!

@@MotoWrenchers Looking forward to both of those! Right now I'm working on a video about getting your engine out of your bike. Then there will be another one about the inside of the Savage engine. Thank you so much! Not sure if I will be able to live up to the cinematic hype I've managed to build for myself. 😅

I guess there is always room for improvement. I appreciate the kind words! I tried my best to make a wiring harness that would pass a repair in a professional shop. Finding the right tools and supplies definitely helped a lot to make the process easier and the end result tidy. If you decide to actually require your bike let me know if you want to have a quick chat.

Hi there, I'm really enjoying your work. I've just purchased a 1977 BMW R75/7. It runs and has been repainted with minor upgrades. I'm going to be creating a Cafe Racer with it. Would you be willing to communicate with me if/when I have questions? I'm a Canadian living in the US for now. I can't wait to start this project.

Hi Jason, that's awesome bro! I'm absolutely willing to help you along project wherever I can. I had so many people helping me out with this build, which made a huge difference. Where in the US do you live now? I'll be moving to the States as well soon, if everything goes as planned. Which style are you going for with the R75?

Apart from the single wire handlebar set up, would you bother with a m-unit again?

That's a very good question. I debated that myself. I think in the end, yes. At some point in the process I questioned, if it's actually worth the money. I feel like it did save me a lot of hassle, made the process quite easy, and allowed me to make a lean wiring harness. It's a great product but I also noticed, that it's definitely not as essential as I thought it would be.

Hi Joshua, Thank you so much for your video's. They've been very helpful and such high value! I have a similar setup for my BMW R80 (1988). I use a motogadget M-unit with the Daytona Velona speedometer, with the specific speedometer cable as well. I have wired everything, I think, correctly. All the lights in the speedo work, and when doing the calibration of the Daytona Velona speedometer, I can see that it receives a signal from the sensor cable. However, both the speedo meter and the RPM meter aren't moving. I have some questions which I'm hoping you can/would like to answer: - How did you attach the rev-meter to the BMW? I have now added it to the + of the ignition coil. Maybe you did it different? - Do you remember the rpm settings you've used for the Daytona? You can set how many rotations per pulse it does. - For the Speedometer, did you have to do anything special? Many thanks in advance.

Hi Joey, Thank you very much for the kind feedback. I only use the speed sensor on my setup. But I haven't set anything up yet. I'll do that once everything is powder coated and the project is complete. At the moment I unfortunately don't have an answer to your questions regarding the Daytona setup. I'm sorry... However, I used AUX2 to power the speedometer and the speed sensor. I think I'd also use that for the rev meter. Maybe that helps at least a little bit. Do you get the rev reading also from the speed sensor? If yes, which color does the wire have? Hope you can figure it out. And sorry again that I can't be of more help. Have a good one my friend! Joshua

@@MotoWrenchers Got it!! It turned out to be 2 really simple issues: - The RPM didn't work because I had it attached to the wrong side of the Ignition Coil. - For the speedo needle I'm still not sure. I tried a different calibration setting (I had used the complete manual one, now simulated the 40KMH one by tapping power the power feed to the sensor. The needle moves know when putting the gear in first and letting the wheel spin. I'm 99% my calculations were right using Daytona's manual, but I'm happy this works now. I can do further calibration while taking it out for a spin. Thanks again for your kind words and encouragement. Keep making these drama-free, well explained KZfaq vids and I'm sure you'll earn a great follower base. Looking forward to seeing what your project ends up like. 😃

@MotoWrenchers
@MotoWrenchers Ай бұрын
Thank you very much. All of the plugs in this video are from the DTM series. I used the DT series for the ignition and charging system. I’ll make a separate video about how to calculate the right wire and plug sizes for each part.

@@MotoWrenchers Perfect, that will be very helpful. You will probably answer my question on your next video. But since I have already the DT kit and still haven't purchased the DTM. Do you think that I can do the wiring with DT instead of DTM? Love the content that you are creating, keep it rolling man. Thank you
@MotoWrenchers
@MotoWrenchers Ай бұрын
@danielramospadilla4550 yeah absolutely! The DT series can handle up to 13 amps on each wire / crimp connection. The DTM series 7,5 amps. So you’ll definitely be on the safe side. If you want to calculate how many amps a part draws you can calculate that with ohms law: watts/volts=amps. Let’s take the headlight with 60 watts as an example. That would be 60/12=5 amps. With that calculation you can check if your plugs are “big” enough. If you have any more questions, just let me know! Happy to help :)
