Hi Francis! Yeah, they have a lot to choose from. I went with one that's called Tight Weave and I'd suggest to get the three smallest sizes they offer. That's 3,2 & 6,4 & 7,9 mm. I got 12,4 mm instead of 7,9 but that was way too big for my setup. It definitely depends a bit on the wires sizes you choose and how many wires you run in one sleeve but from my experience I'd say the three smallest sizes are perfect for a motorcycle wiring harness. That's a very good question. I debated that myself. I think in the end, yes. At some point in the process I questioned, if it's actually worth the money. I feel like it did save me a lot of hassle, made the process quite easy, and allowed me to make a lean wiring harness. It's a great product but I also noticed, that it's definitely not as essential as I thought it would be.

In my case, i used the spring instead of a spacer that I cut from the main spring. I don't know if it was a good idea though.

Nice video, but I have something to add, tinning wires for screw terminals (like you did in the switches) is not a good idea, the solder can "flow" and loosen the connection, best practice is to use ferrules on the end of the wires.

That is a great tip! Someone told me I should tin them but I'm always on the hunt for better solutions. What does "the solder can flow" mean? Is there a special pair of crimping pliers for ferrules for these tiny wires? Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it!

@@MotoWrenchers Hi, here is some more info for you: Phoenix Contact has a good write up about it called "The problems with tinning wires" Also IPC says that: IPC-J-STD-001 Rev E, page 13, section 5.1.3, “Stranded wire shall not [D1, D2, D3] be tinned when:” * Wires will be used in crimp terminations * Wires will be used in threaded fasteners * Wires will be used in forming mesh splices If you want some real world examples you can look around 3d printing forums and subreddits (it's a common fault there) As for ferrules, you can find them in all different sizes for specific wire cross-sections, they do need "special" crimpers but they are the cheapest ones (especially compared to those deustch ones). Also there are connectors called "Pin terminals" made for this purpose

@@MotoWrenchers Ich hätte Lust auf einen Siebenrock Umbau auf 860ccm, aber als erstes muss ich mal nach dem Getriebe schauen. Es läuft ein kleines bisschen Motoröl zwischen Motor und Getriebe aus. Denke mal Kurbelwellensimmerring. Hast du sowas schon mal gemacht?

I haven’t done that (yet). I saw videos where people shortened the springs. I’ll see how it works out when I rebuild the forks and have oil in them. They do close at the moment, so I hope it works without having to shorten them but I need to try that out once I have all the parts back from the powder coater. Also, need to see how much less oil it takes. I’ll probably make an update video down the line. Have a great one!!

When it come to fuses, they should protect the cable in case of a short or overheating, so the fuse should always be as close to your battery terminal as possible. In critical installs like marine applications, we often chose a battery terminal with the fuse holder built into it. This is the best option. You should NOT put the fuse on the M.unit end of the cable.

Regarding the fuse on the M.Unit, Motogadget specifies that there needs to be an inline fuse between the battery and the BAT terminal of the M.Unit. I'm currently finishing a Yamaha xs650 cafe project with basically Motogadget products everywhere. It's ok, the kids didn't want to go to college anyway, lol! Not sure, if I'll start the R80 or not. It runs but need a full restoration. It's been very helpful watching your videos related to Motogadget. Unfortunately I find their instructions difficult to follow but understand as I'm married to someone who's first language is not English. You're doing a great job. (Ancestry says I'm 27% German, no wonder I'm a fan of German products, design etc.)

Ja mit dem originalen Setup auf jeden Fall. Ich hab auf eine komplett neue Zündung und LiMa von Vape upgegradet. Dadurch fällt das bei mir zum Glück weg. Aber im originalen Diagramm müsste zu sehen sein, wie die Kontrolllampe verkabelt wird. Ich habe dazu mal gehört, dass die originale Glühbirne deutlich besser sein soll, als ein Widerstand und LED. Aber ich musste mich damit wie gesagt nicht genauer beschäftigen. An was für einem Projekt arbeitest du gerade? Schöne Grüße Joshua

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. I don't think that PLA could withstand brake fluid long term but I might be wrong. I definitely wanted to be on the safe side, so I built the brake fluid reservoir bracket from metal.

@@MotoWrenchers I just hardwired mine in but missed a trick hiding wiring through the riser so will correct that and redo it all at some point. Bikes running OK now, new clutch pack fixed that issue, it's deffo just a 'show bike' won't see any wet roads 🤞🏼🤣

Hi Joshua, Thank you so much for your video's. They've been very helpful and such high value! I have a similar setup for my BMW R80 (1988). I use a motogadget M-unit with the Daytona Velona speedometer, with the specific speedometer cable as well. I have wired everything, I think, correctly. All the lights in the speedo work, and when doing the calibration of the Daytona Velona speedometer, I can see that it receives a signal from the sensor cable. However, both the speedo meter and the RPM meter aren't moving. I have some questions which I'm hoping you can/would like to answer: - How did you attach the rev-meter to the BMW? I have now added it to the + of the ignition coil. Maybe you did it different? - Do you remember the rpm settings you've used for the Daytona? You can set how many rotations per pulse it does. - For the Speedometer, did you have to do anything special? Many thanks in advance.

Hi Joey, Thank you very much for the kind feedback. I only use the speed sensor on my setup. But I haven't set anything up yet. I'll do that once everything is powder coated and the project is complete. At the moment I unfortunately don't have an answer to your questions regarding the Daytona setup. I'm sorry... However, I used AUX2 to power the speedometer and the speed sensor. I think I'd also use that for the rev meter. Maybe that helps at least a little bit. Do you get the rev reading also from the speed sensor? If yes, which color does the wire have? Hope you can figure it out. And sorry again that I can't be of more help. Have a good one my friend! It turned out to be 2 really simple issues: - The RPM didn't work because I had it attached to the wrong side of the Ignition Coil. - For the speedo needle I'm still not sure. I tried a different calibration setting (I had used the complete manual one, now simulated the 40KMH one by tapping power the power feed to the sensor. The needle moves know when putting the gear in first and letting the wheel spin. I'm 99% my calculations were right using Daytona's manual, but I'm happy this works now. I can do further calibration while taking it out for a spin. Thanks again for your kind words and encouragement. I really wish I had this last year when I was building my R100. Also for AUX1, I used them for my Hella foglights which are fantastic. Do you reckon AUX2 can be used the same?

Hi Kevin! Style did you go for with your R100? Hella fog lights (I guess mounted onto the crash bars?) must be amazing! You could also power them via Aux2. The only thing I noticed is that the rear lights wich I power through Aux1 are synchronised with the headlight. I’m not sure if that’s something you can setup in the settings for Aux2 as well. Still need to check all the settings.
