Enjoyed the install video, as I recently installed a similar unit myself. Having said that - you may want to review the installation instructions (pg. 18) in regards to how to measure for coupler end play - specifically, the measurement is to include the gasket thickness when determining amount of shims to be used. Would hate to hear you ran into premature failure down the road. Again, thanks for the video.

I enjoyed the video from cover to cover! I'm about to purchase this unit for my 92 Foxbody and install 410s. The video shows the good and the bad which aided in my decision to purchase this unit. Thank you!!!!! The father is super very and was very detailed with his install. Nice!!!!!! If you have any cons about the install, please let me know ASAP. I'm assuming the install was 3 days or so, given you had to wait for the drive shaft to be cut and balanced.

Hey on the wiring the wires on the trans side the two wires that come straight off the solenoid looking part but anyway They make the little spade connectors with the 90 where The Wire goes in the side. So they could have plugged on there and The Wire would point out the top instead of straight out the back. Just thought I'd mentioned it. So you could make your wiring. Prettier if you wanted to lol

in automatic mode, does it automatically gear split (1, 1 over, 2, 2 over, etc) or just go 1,2,3,od. Im having a hard time finding that out. most of the examples i see are people shifting between gears and hitting the od switch for each one

According to their site, when employed, it will act like a normal trans with overdrive i.e. 1,2,3,od. It will go into overdrive at 47 mph. Manual mode will allow splitting. More info is at gearvendors.com.

Are you shifting the Gear Vendors in and out of overdrive under a load when in manual mode? The reason i ask is because i also have a th400 reverse manual valve body with a Gear Vendors. And was wondering how you chose to do the shifting. I found that if i leave it in automatic the shift are very hard in and out of overdrive.

I know it's an old video but at 7:25 you didn't have the adapter bolted tight when you measured your end play. When you put the bolts in and tightened them that changed the clearance 'cause of gasket compression. To compensate remove a shim that would be close to the same thickness as the amount lost from gasket compression. I would guess about .020 thou depending on the actual gasket thickness.

Why not put a overdrive transmission all in one unit.

This gives you six forward gears practically. Has the strength of your original good or already built th400 , retains all your flex plate , shifter and converter set up. 200 and 700r4. Aren't known for there reliability. So really you'd want a 4l80e minimum. But that's a single over drive. So really to compare you'd want a 6l80e. Then will need flex plate , converter , box , stand alone TCM , tune , mount set up , shifter set up etc.

Thank you for the video. Not many on GV installs out there. How much of a highway cruise rpm difference did you see on 3 OD gear? I have pretty much same setup and I am undecided between GV or Manual 6.

Roger Morales it depends on tire size (27” tire) & rear gear ratio (.355 gear) we saved 600 RPM at 65 mph. We are at 2250 RPM. Hope this helps. We love the set up
