I live in Australia, and my rover has been rebuilt, body off and chassis painted and all, still get random stuff in my eye. Don't worry it's universal.

nice here in the usa we call them rock sliders and tree sliders are the cable between the front of the hood/bonnet to the roof that protects your windshield

I think I posted this before, but there is like a funnel of rocks and dirt that fall into the area where that long bolt runs. You probably inserted the new bolt and then besides body to chassis alignment, the rocks will fall in and wedge the bolt as it spins. Next time jack up the body, remove the bolt and make sure there is no dirt falling in. Then I just used a drill bit pushing through as an alignment pin. Grease the bolt with lithium grease or caliper pin grease and tap it in.

Had most of these problems fitting steps to my 91 Defender... Gotta love those bolts and brackets that have rusted away to nothingness.

In the end, did you run a pin through the rear outrigger to lock the rear tree slider mount in place, or just go with the bolt-on on the front?

7 minutes. I am making my own rock sliders and I just removed that big bolt. It’s hollow in there and the problem is likely that you had a rock that fell into the chassis part where the bolt passes through, hen you wedged the rock in there while spinning and hammering the bolt in place. Once removed the rock dislodged.
