Hi guys!! If you didn't know, Theo got me the Union Jack tail lights for my car for Christmas and I'm so happy they're installed now :D

Thomas Partida you just don’t understand do you. The new “mini” is not a mini at all. To say its a true mini is just insulting to an actual true mini. The car in this video is just a German barge with mini badges.

Thomas Partida - The new Corvette is a tough one. To me a Corvette is an American sports/muscle car with a naturally aspirated V8, rear wheel drive, the engine at the front and circular rear lights. Well two of those the new car doesn’t have. So it’s a kinda pass. The 911 to me is a German sort of pebble shaped sports car with the engine at the very rear and bug eyed front head lights. I think the latest model still fulfils this criteria. The Mini to me is a British small ‘city’ car that defies its small size by being surprisingly practical. It’s also a cheap car, even when new that most people can afford. It’s also a versatile car that has many variants. I think the new mini only really fulfils the versatile criteria and neither of the other three. Therefore I find it a stretch to call it a Mini.

I’m surprised the Union Jack lights didn’t come as standard for an 18 plate. I’ve just bought these lights for my mini and I’m dreading changing them🙈

Meadow & Theo, well done and great video. You say that they needed coding and as I’ve just changed mine (2018 JCW with now 2021 rear UJ’s) I booked it in for coding. The BMW approved garage said it would not be a problem, only he still has my car ! He says wiring pins need to be changed but I’m of the opinion that it’s just coding ! I didn’t buy the BimmerCode App as I thought it easier to use the garage, wrong. Do you have the definitive list of codes that need changing please ?

I know u have just put a big wing on trixy the stripper mini , but can you please ask wang man pants to put a bodykit on it. I have seen ur style mini with a body kit and they look amazing and you can flex on ur opps when u pull up on them. Big fan of ur channel and theos keep it up.

There's an app called bimmer code that you can use to program a bunch of stuff. You also need an iCar Pro diagnostic interface. It's a little thing that you plug into the car and then sync to the app and you can do all your coding from there. I think it's like £10 online :)

Oh nuts. I think I’ve threaded the top screw too in the right headlight… not sure what to do. Try pull it out or leave it slightly misaligned 🤦🏻‍♂️

Rather than watch a video about how to remove the light units, just look at the fixings on the replacement lights?, also you don't need to reach in to disconnect the multiplug from the light unit, just remove it when the lamp unit comes away from the bodywork.

i installed mine and coded them with bimmercode, but as per your vid i still have the flickering on the start for a few seconds, did you manage to clear this flickering aswell? As its bugging me tbh and seen many vids from america but need someone to show this from the UK as its a different lighting system, please help!

Hmmm I'm not sure. Mine don't flicker on startup anymore. Maybe make sure the connectors are fully plugged in?

Did you disable cold and warm monitoring with Bimmercode?

@@Mani_Tank Yes you need to switch both cold and warm monitoring for all functions on rear lights to "not active" as well as setting lights to LED instead of bulbs, this is done in expert mode (costs £31 for the upgrade from free version)

Yes coding is required. However it's very simple with the bimmer code app and the iCar Pro diagnostic interface.

While a number of these cars may be assembled in England, along with the Netherlands, B.M.W. is a German company. Furthermore, the George Cross is the flag of England. The union flag is not. It is the state flag.

Yes you do have to code them. All you need is the bimmercode app and a Bluetooth OBD reader. If you go on eBay and search bimmercode you'll be able to find an OBD reader. And then it's very simple to code them through the app

Meadow I have done that and managed to get rid of the warnings on the dash and the flickering, but my problem is the Union Jack is not lighting up like yours. I only have indicators, brake light and side light on the rear. Do I have to code anything else to get the Union Jack to light up? Yours seem to light up just by changing the lights without coding. I am working on a 2016 mini convertible so it may me slightly different to yours.

@@24710635I think there's quite a few options you can through. on bimmercode it'll be from indicators, to rear light and more. Go through and make sure each option that has to do with the lights is changed to LED

Meadow I think I may have found the problem, the connection to my lights has only five cables in where as yours has six. How much are you betting that I need that extra cable to power up the Union Jack part of the lights. It might be a trip to a auto Electrition or have a look foe a video showing the modification. Thanks for your help buddy it’s been much appreciated.

You have to first disconnet the negative terminal of the battery and then proceed on with the procedure

Sorry but it's not as easy as that .. I installed mine at Mini because you need a new coding for the headlights because the Union Jacks are Led and the old ones are with bulbs ... The most following the year of the car there are different codings ... Find out before buying and placing them...

Bright red with a white roof complete with a bloody great union flag , true mini style . 13x6 wheels totally standard , though i did raise the suspension cause it kept grounding on all the speed ramps . @@bigmacdaddy1234 - I don't agree with that. The Fiat 500 does for starters. A modern take on an old classic for a reasonable price like the original. The new BMW Mini shares none of characteristics of the original. It's a bloated, heavy and expensive car. It's probably a decent car in its own right but it's never a Mini.
