I always thought that the right layer blending modes to use for color gradient maps were screen, soft light, etc. But your choice of using color blending seems much better! Thank you, Colin.

Hello again and thank you for this tututotorial (sorry I just HAD to because as you rightly say, they really ARE "the new thing"!!! :) ). Using gradient maps to colour grade an image really does make such a different and is actually rather fun to do. Much appreciated as always.

I had not seen these gradient maps with the color mode blend. Very nice - I was using soft light and this color mode is much better. Thank you.

GREAT video! I can't wait to play with this. I have been on a quest to emulate the old Agfa Portriga rapid 118 warm tone paper. I had a good mix in the older pre CS5 versions of PSD using the Hue/Sat/colorize window; but alas, it has given way to version updates and no longer pleases the inner eye. Looks like I can dial in with the toning gradients. ~TEU

Colin; I enjoyed this video and the way you have presented it, simple & easy to understand. Q: The current / latest downloaded Legacy Gradients now appear to be different to those shown at 3:30, there does not appear to be any 'Foreground to Background' or 'Foreground to Transparent' gradient icons that I can see. Do you know how / where to import them from, or how to change existing ones to match the two you show in your video. Many thanks.

Hi Colin. When I follow this (PS2021) my screen looks different. I add the gradient map and then when I click a colour like blue, it covers the entire image, like a texture would. So I cannot see the image at all. It also adds a Gradient fill above the gradient map. Is this right or am I going wrong?
