Hi Tim, really enjoying the Hodge Podge mix, it’s great to learn a little about farming along with the construction projects, and even the emotional ups and downs of planning! When I lay chipboard floors I leave the glue at least an inch short of the “open” edge as you suggested. I also don’t fix within about 4 inches of that edge until the next row of boards go down as it makes it easier to get them in 👍. Keep going, I’m sure it feels a slog right now but it’ll make the highs worth it!

Cool. those Egger Protect boards appear to have changed. The ones I used for my garden room have the grey protective coating on both side whereas yours seem to have it on one side only. I'm pretty sure egger protect doesnt form or constitute a vapour barrier and for the sake of £24 for 50sqm (2.5m x 20m) from Wickes I would have paid the extra.

There are plenty of DIY only Channels, so please keep the mix as the various aspects of what you are all doing is great to see and makes your channel more unique. Seeing the whole family involved and learning has been great. The kids getting involved and learning is another good aspect such as the recent fishing video. One small tip I find useful for counting livestock, count in twos so 2, 4, 6 rather than 1, 2, 3 it's surprising how much easier it makes it.

Someone has probably already said it in comments but i think you are supposed to apply some of the PU Glue onto the head of the fixings just to maintain the water barrier. There may even be a specific product (i think they used it in a skillbuilder video with James doing an extension)

Keep yourself a bottle of acetone around for the PU glue! Basically the same as what's in the expanding foam gun cleaner cans and can get you out of a sticky situation (pun intended). As for farm chores not so much for me I'm afraid, there's only a certain amount of rounding up sheep and feeding pigs I can watch. Looking forward to the builds and wishing you the best of luck!

Don’t forget to seal the edges of the chipboard with PVA to stop moisture ingress (a commonly overlooked detail) The edges will swell up if you don’t do so Also remember you only have 60 days protection against water with Protect so it will need to be covered fully before this time Hope helpful

All views of farm prep, getting on with it, construction...all of it is good stuff! I might have missed it...is the idea to build a house on the two chassis, put them together, move in and then restore a structure on the premissis for a more permanent home and sell the two chassis? All while being farmers and tending to animals? Have you considered hiring a farmhand? We can talk if so. I'm ready for a change of scenery...
